Position Summary:

The Process Engineer is responsible for basic process analysis, planning, development and construction activities related to Oleochemical processing and support facilities including utilities and packaging. Involved in understanding unit operations, installing, starting new equipment/processes and otherwise supporting the operations.  Supports the ongoing development of new processing technologies and other technical improvements.  Person should have experience with and be capable of managing projects of up to $200 K with some direction, covering scope, timing, and cost.

 

Cor Functions:   

  • Evaluating and improving processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Designing, installing and commissioning new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes
  • On existing systems, monitoring modifications and upgrades, troubleshooting if required.
  • Develop training documentation, SOP’s.
  • Reviewing existing data and interfacing on technical issues with others – both internally and externally
  • Preparing and presenting data and reports
  • Developing bid packages, soliciting and analyzing bids and participating in or awarding bids and managing work.
  • Managing the cost and time constraints of projects
  • Managing and assuring workplace safety and delivery of capable assets meeting “customer” needs
  • Selecting, managing and working with sub-contractors
  • Working closely with others to monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of a plant
  • Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved
  • Ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Process Engineer is responsible for Food Safety and Quality – Follow company Quality Systems and implement Food Safety in the design, change and operational processes as well as engineering design.

 

Skills/Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree -  Prefer Ch or M E. 
  • 5 plus years’ experience preferred in a variety of challenging but related environments performing process, project and manufacturing support in the food, chemical and or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Detail oriented-ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task
  • Systems Analysis – Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
  • Self-starter, strong interfacing and leadership competencies across a broad spectrum of people and groups.  Ability and experience to lead teams.  Strong project methodology background.
  • Preferred experience in food and specifically Oleochemical processing.
