Position Summary:

The Cash Application Manager is responsible for the timely application of payments along with monitoring customer account and reconciliation activity.  Will support credit, collection, and other finance operations of the company by performing all activities associated with daily posting of cash receipts. 


Core Functions:

  • Ensure efficient, timely, thorough and accurate remittance processing, unapplied funds resolution and reporting to meet customer service and business needs
  • Manage lockbox bank relationships, ensuring company requirements are met in a cost-effective manner
  • Work closely with A/R collection team by identifying, resolving and mitigating cash posting issues and/or concerns to aid in collection efforts
  • Oversee the process of refunds being generated timely and accurately for applicable overpayments on customer accounts within policy
  • Assist the Senior Manager with the daily administration of various tasks to meet/exceed service level agreement
  • Provide metrics, KPI's, month end and other periodic reconciliation analysis and reporting
  • Design, maintain and govern clear and concise desk top procedures for cash application that are aligned with the Bunge Global Process Organization policies and processes.
  • Review Key Performance Indicators regularly and use the data details to instigate deep process reviews with internal and external customers with the objective of determining root causes and preventing future occurrences.
  • Support all internal and external audits, as needed.


Essential Duties:

  • Ensure payments are applied timely and accurately daily.  Work closely with business units to identify on account payments so they can be resolved.  Utilize multiple banking and customer portals to extract payment information.  Work closely with Credit and AR to minimize risk and reduce AR aging.  Research and determine reasons for unapplied payments. Obtain and attach supporting documentation, create clear and concise notes, and perform unapplied cash reporting. 
  • Root Cause Analysis: Drive process improvements to eliminate unnecessary unapplied cash by partnering with key business persons, customers and AR team members. Analyze data to give greater visibility to business unit managers on issues that are negatively impacting customer relationships, working capital and profitability.
  • Participate in monthly governance meetings to report on the status of unapplied cash and discuss recurring issues with particular business units and customers.
  • Be a continuous improvement leader! Recommend and lead process improvement projects related to cash application. 
  • Train new hires in the business in coordination with their supervisors on cash application policies and processes. Provide refresher training to existing sales and sales support as needed to ensure process understanding and alignment between AR and sales teams.
  • Monitor ACH debit pull program and assist team when problems arise with bank files or customer returns. 
  • Facilitate refund requests from business units.
  • Review pre-pay customer accounts monthly and verify statements are reconciled and in balance. 


Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting
  • 2 years of experience with cash applications
  • Experience managing people and leading a team to achieve key objectives
  • Self-starter who requires minimal guidance who can portray a personal commitment to Bunge core values while advancing Bunge key capabilities
  • Experience with SAP modules
  • Strong problem solving, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
