Position Objective: 

This role leads the financial planning and performance management processes to drive performance optimization for the consolidated external reporting segments, with specific focus on the Corporate & Sugar segments, including coordinating the annual portfolio review, planning and target setting cycle, the  forecast and the monthly performance cycle and analysis. The role will lead and perform the analysis of the quarterly results to inform and assist in the preparation of the quarterly earnings press release. 

 

Preparing compelling presentation materials to support the CEO, CFO, SVP-FP&A, VP-Investor Relations and other senior leaders is ongoing objective (eg: Board meetings, Earnings guidance, Investor updates, ExCo/SMM meetings, etc)

 

Providing thought leadership and influencing key stakeholders in building a simple, streamlined yet effective performance reporting & management framework for the company is an important responsibility.

 

The role will lead the department’s mandate to oversee governance, reporting, and tracking for external and internal KPIs and metrics.

 

The role provides guidance and direction to Value Chain/BU Finance Partners related to Performance Management and supervises the activities of two direct reports (FP&A Managers) in St. Louis, Missouri.

 

Core Functions:

Performance Management Governance
•    Create and communicate prescriptive, streamlined, and effective formats and deliverables for performance management analysis for use across all business units and value chains, including developing an assessment of the existing analytical/reporting/forecasting systems landscape, evaluating potential alternatives to address gaps/shortcomings, and helping blueprint/build the new analytical/forecasting capabilities.
•    Develop and implement systems and system enhancement for dynamic reporting, planning and analysis, including  financial dashboards, KPIs, monthly and quarterly reporting, trend analysis, driver based planning.  
•    Provide guidance, definition and preparation of internal and external reporting metrics and KPIs including coordinating, building, and maintaining reporting hierarchies to align with an evolving organization structure and service delivery model, simplifying overhead cost allocations providing definition and allocation methodology for costs between corporate, shared, and direct categories, and calculating and tracking capital and corporate charges to each reporting unit
•    Planning Calendar – Lead coordination of the monthly and quarterly Performance Cycle process of the FP&A planning calendar, aligned to the financial closing process, establishing a timeline for all key dates and deliverables, liaising with the Bunge Limited CFO and SVP, Global FP&A to outline the overall performance management process and related calendar.  Specifically, scheduling of proposed Performance Calls, Executive Committee meetings, and Board Meetings.   Objective is to establish a calendar that properly aligns with the normal cadence of reporting activities, in such a manner that provides the greatest amount of readily available information for each meeting.
•    Interact directly with the CFO and SVP, Global FP&A on various ad-hoc questions arising on a day-to-day basis.  Liaise with Executive Committee Members, Corporate Functions, and Value Chain Management and Finance Partners  as necessary.  

 

Monthly / Quarterly Performance Management Cycle
•    Prepare analysis of monthly results, understanding differences versus forecast, prior year and trends; highlighting risks and opportunities and distributing a snapshot of key information to Bunge’s Exco and other key stakeholders
•    Oversee quarterly FP&A deliverables supporting the Earnings Call process, completing in depth analysis for the assigned reporting segments, ensuring reports and key messages are clearly and concisely delivered to the CEO, CFO, and Investor Relations.  Responsible to deliver consolidated earnings guidance for pre-earnings Board meeting, and KPI analysis that is included in Earnings Presentation.
•    Financial Forecasting – Provide guidance to Value Chain and Business Unit Finance Leads on key forecast drivers and submission requirements.  Lead Corporate FP&A team in consolidating Bunge’s global forecast, with focus on EBIT, ROIC and EPS.  Prepare a monthly report to the global ExCo.
•    Analyze financial estimates and assumptions submitted by value chain and business units and test and challenge the data provided to improve the quality of the final submission and that messaged are aligned across the external reporting segments
•    Liaise with the Global FP&A Capital Investments, and Operational Expense Management, Global Tax, Global Treasury and Controlling  teams, coordinating FP&A deliverables and alignment.  
•    Maintain a repository of notable items and calculate and track their impacts on business unit performance as needed. 
•    Responsible tracking and reporting MTM Timing Differences for Carve Out disclosure in financial reporting.  
•    Improve the performance management process, streamlining materials and tools and to improve and streamline the deliverables and enhance the quality of the data

 

Strategic Planning Process
•    Preparation and analysis of quarterly portfolio analysis, providing overview of returns and value creation at the portfolio and value chain level, identifying trends and area for further assessment
•    Creation and maintenance of a business roadmap of historical performance, trends, and drivers including a database of key metrics and data points to support the on-going strategic planning process

Other
•    Provide direct support where needed to the CFO and other Corporate functions in preparing information for the investor community, including earnings call and other events (e.g., shareholder meetings, etc.), the executive committee, the board, or other needs related to financial planning and financial performance
•    Lead, manage, and develop a team of manager level professionals in the FP&A department covering the Performance Management area
•    OneStream System Implementation –Lead Corporate FP&A activities related to planning and implementation of the new consolidation system over the next 1-2 years, Coordinate with controlling to ensure the successful execution of the new Financial consolidation tool and identifying areas to streamline and improve use of the system to support department and company objectives; represent department as a member of the OneStream Governance Committee
•    Provide ongoing support to the HR Compensation team the following:  Establishing AIP targets / metrics, monthly AIP forecast updates, adhoc AIP scenarios factoring certain adjusting items, and YE support for AIP calculations.
•    Prepare analysis and benchmark against BG results competitors that operate in the same industry and subset of the defined external reporting segments; provide analysis and benchmarking to Management and other stakeholders
•    Conduct special studies and analyses as requested by senior management and the Board

 

Skills/Experience Requirements:
•    Minimum BS; MBA preferred
•    Minimum of eight to ten years of previous working experience in both Agribusiness and Finance-related functions.
•    Must be able to work independently; exercise practical judgment, business and financial knowledge, and creativity in finding solutions to overcome internal or external issues; make recommendations to senior management regarding appropriate actions to be taken; collaborate and work cross functionally with colleagues located outside of the employee’s assigned home office
•    Strong leadership and influence management skills
•    Ability to effectively manage and guide teams.
•    Ability to network and influence senior level employees across a wide-ranging part of the company (e.g., Senior level Corporate function individuals, Segment FP&A Directors, Regional FP&A Directors.
•    Ability to work independently, maintain objectivity and deliver results
•    Strong communication skills; ability to articulate complex matters/issues in a clear and concise manner
•    Experience presenting materials to ExCo level individuals.
•    Solid knowledge of financial performance analysis tools and techniques
•    Ability to think creatively and identify/explore alternatives
•    Ability to drive to conclusions and recommend actions, generally involving situations or issues where there is incomplete and/or conflicting information
•    Strong negotiation skills
•    Ability to think at both strategic and operational levels
•    Understanding of Accounting, Tax and Treasury (including capital structures, financing and foreign exchange)
•    Fluency in English; other languages  a plus
