Position Summary:

Leads projects to develop and introduce new products, improve product quality, productivity, process technology programs and capacity changes at Bunge Protein Ingredients. The incumbent has a major impact on the technical organization and provides high impact support to project teams. Innovation from idea generation through proof of concept to commercialization while creating new processes or operating procedures that lead to competitive advantage for Bunge. This position will control the execution plans for key strategic projects, aligning demands, resources, priorities, agendas and guaranteeing desired outcomes for the entire portfolio of projects. Responsibilities will include plan, register and keep track of technical activities, analysis, for product and process development.

 

Core Functions:

  • Assumes the role of innovator, project leader and technical problem solver teaming with cross-functional partners including other Technologists, Quality, Regulatory, Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Operations, Procurement and Supply Chain;
  • Is actively involved in innovation/customer solutions including process development, product formulation, analytics, design of unique unit operations and plant start-ups;
  • Schedules equipment and provide test plan to the pilot plant operations team for all scale-up and testing. Ensures adequate raw materials, resources, and timing for pilot plant testing;
  • Ensures implementation of analytical tools and protocols, as well execute analysis and tests when necessary;
  • Develops and characterizes new products and prototypes, leveraging and classifying their performance;
  • Develops and implements portfolio management process tool (such as sf.com) and discipline within R&D, Science and Process development initiatives;
  • Organizes BPI development portfolio to show current strategic balance across short, mid and long-term time horizons, varying innovation risk profiles and market opportunity;
  • Makes recommendations on project prioritization, identify gaps, white spaces opportunities and make resource allocation recommendations;
  • Performs other related duties and ad hoc responsibilities as required.

 

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, science or engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years direct related experience required;
  • Travel to and work in other regions, areas and technology partners. Including International travel and flexible work schedule beyond a typical work week to cover project needs;
  • The incumbent must possess leadership, cost consciousness, communication skills, and diplomacy that will promote good relations with all facets and other collaborative areas in the effective execution of projects to accomplish Corporate and Area objectives and demanding schedules;
  • This individual must be able to function effectively as a Project Manager, Planner, Coordinator, and Communicator. Ability to multi-task and cover multiple areas (customer visits, plant trials, lab, pilot plant) with a can-do attitude;
  • Ability to Deal with Ambiguity and fast paced environment, while being able to adapt to such changes and deliver results will be a key strength in this role;
  • The ability to gain various stakeholders’ support for ideas, proposals, and solutions, as well as develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.
