Logistic and maintenance management of private railcar fleet.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with Bunge facilities and railcar leasing companies on shopping of railcars due to required maintenance programs
  • Obtain shop information on status of railcars for private car fleet and provide weekly shop report to business units and Rail Operations management.
  • Work with railroads to divert rail equipment for maintenance programs and update the appropriate computer application with diversion information
  • Monitor and investigate railcars that report as bad order by various railroads and update the appropriate computer application with investigation findings
  • Utilize various software applications to manage, track and trace the private fleet of railcars in relation to railcars requiring maintenance
  • Work with mobile units to repair railcars at Bunge or customer facilities as needed
  • Maintain accuracy of railcar records in the software applications with regards to car mechanical and test information
  • Maintain annual kosher certification of private rail tank car fleet
  • Assist Rail Pricing with analysis, audit and approval or dispute of invoices from railroads
  • Provide backup support to Rail Fleet Coordinator position
  • File and update loading authority applications on private railcar fleet through Ralinc web-based database as railcars are added, remarked or removed from Bunge’s fleet.
  • Assist with filing and submittal of railcar and/or truck claims as needed to appropriate rail and truck carriers.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in transportation or logistics
  • Three to five years of experience with the maintenance of a private rail car fleet
  • Background in transportation is a must
  • Requires the ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines
  • Ability to set goals, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and conflicting objectives
  • Problem solver and quick/accurate decision maker
  • Ability to be a team player is essential
  • Proven ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Demonstrate high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Ability to multitask is extremely important
  • Knowledge of SAP helpful but not required
  • Looking for someone that is willing to learn and grow their knowledge of the railcar industry for this position that will support the Supply Chain Team as well as the business units we support
