Position Summary:
The Senior Project Management Office will lead facility projects for Bunge North America (BNA). The design and construction must align with strategic Company initiatives, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local code requirements. Associated work will include management of in-house design in concert with engineering contractors for the successful completion of projects, utilizing a stage-gated approach. Incumbent will be responsible for managing all categories of project principles, including Project Execution, Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Risk, Information Management, Health-Safety-Environment, Quality, Staffing, and Operations.
Core Functions:
Prepare and/or oversee the development of design and feasibility studies for projects at BNA or greenfield facilities using a steadfast stage-gated project management approach
Develop and review project cost estimates and direct modifications as appropriate and required
Prepare and/or review budgets for expenditures on outside consulting engineers and regularly review the work of consultants with direct reports, typically project managers
Review equipment specification recommendations and prepare or review construction bid packages
Prepare and/or review and monitor controls on scheduling and project cost
Prepare and/or assemble periodic project reports and engineering activities summaries for the project management group under his/her span of control
Ensure capital and expense projects are aligned with business unit objectives and completed safely within scope, cost and schedule
Manage project submission process to include evaluation of projects, review of proposals and advise on project feasibility
Develop and maximize team member capabilities by fostering an environment that identifies talent, provides ongoing coaching and feedback and creates opportunities for growth and development
Aid plant locations in identifying and developing projects resulting in added profit or cost savings
Communicate and model good business practices that support the company’s core values.
Skill/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Agricultural related engineering field. Master’s degree a plus
5 plus years of experience directly managing others, including plant or multi-plant operations
PMP certification preferred, P.E. registration is a plus
A combination of experience as outlined below in any of the following sectors is required: Milling, Oilseed Processing, Agriculture, Biofuels, Bio-Products, Pulp and Paper, Food and Beverage, or Specialty Chemicals. Some agricultural processing experience is required.
Project Management: Candidate must have experience developing project charters and project execution plans for projects, and then executing against them in a stage gated project management model. Minimum 8 years of combined project management and construction experience required.
Engineering: Candidate shall have experience managing engineering.
Procurement: Candidate will be required to manage procurement staff throughout the project life cycle, from initial estimates through tender and final award. Familiarity with contract administration/review experience is essential.
Project Controls: Candidate shall demonstrate ability to provide oversight in scope, cost, and schedule control on all assigned projects.
Risk: Candidate should have experience analyzing project risks and managing risk throughout the project. Formal training in risk management is a plus.
Business and Commercial: Candidate must have experience working with commercial and business development teams to develop financial models for projects. Front end project development and appraisal experience required.
Information Management: Candidate should have project experience with client portal/document management systems and/or collaboration application software.
Health-Safety-Environment: Candidate shall have minimum 8 years of experience managing these key project categories directly or indirectly on projects. Asset-based experience and knowledge in NFPA 61 is a plus.
