Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Global Product Management for Plant Proteins is a member of the Protein Ingredients start-up business in Bunge. Drawing on extensive B2B product management experience they will drive (1) product insights, (2) portfolio strategies, (3) portfolio management, and (4) P&L management. Their main responsibilities are to design a portfolio based on customer needs and market trends to maximize growth; develop and implement portfolio strategies with prioritized goals linked to customer and operational plans; monitor and assess current SKU performance and rationalize SKUs; influence and help drive new product development; and, maximize portfolio profitability by managing pricing and costing for all SKUs. This role will work closely with sales, finance, marketing, R&D, operations and supply chain. It will enable Bunge to offer a portfolio that profitably meets customer needs.


  • Define the optimal product portfolio that will maximize growth based on customer product needs, category trends, channel dynamics, and competitor activities. Deliver as reports that include the following: product formats, sensory attributes, quality parameters, regulatory and safety needs, and features such as clean label, nutrition, allergens, sustainability, and more.
  • Develop and implement strategies that outline our product portfolio ambition, including time-bound financial goals for a prioritized product range, key customer targets for these products, an operational and footprint plan to produce them, and key competitive advantages.
  • Lead portfolio management:
    • Review and approve new SKUs and product opportunities.
    • Lead the set-up of new SKUs including packaging, key documents, and integration with SAP, Salesforce, and other systems.
    • Continuously track and scrutinize SKU performance versus business plan and utilize pricing together with sales chain to identify growth opportunities and integrate with operations to improve asset utilization.
    • Create and execute a process of ongoing SKU rationalization.
    • Develop and implement strategies with operations to optimize production line management, inventory management, warehousing, and available-to-sell management.
    • Lead the new-product-development pipeline together with marketing and R&D.
    • Investigate customer claims and help resolve quality claims and issues.
  • Drive gross margin P&L management:
    • Be a key influencer of pricing by leading market discovery and supporting the deployment of pricing as an end-to-end process that encompasses strategy, price setting governance, and enabling tools and technologies.
    • Perform pricing analytics at the customer and product levels to provide recommendations on specific pricing strategies.
    • Manage the annual pricing and contracting process, working closely with Sales leadership in crafting and implementing product line specific pricing strategies, and effectively communicating this strategy in the organization.
    • Implement new tools and processes to better understand and communicate profitability, price leakage, price variance, pricing leverage and competitive dynamics to help direct how we establish pricing in the marketplace.
    • Manage underlying cost structure, understanding and working with teams to optimize cost drivers across raw material sourcing, supply chain, production, inventory, and warehousing.
    • Optimize facility capacity and capacity line management, cost-effectively matching capacity needed with changing product demand.
    • Work with operations to find best way to handle old inventory and rework to minimize P&L impact.
    • Work with operations to understand the bottlenecks and excess capacities within facilities network.


Core Functions:

  • Define an optimal product portfolio and continuous process to update the business on how it should evolve based on customer needs, market trends, and operational and supply chain capabilities.
  • Develop and implement strategies that guide the business on the make-up of our product portfolio today and tomorrow to profitably meet customer needs supported by appropriate operational and supply chain plans.
  • Execute SKU set up including packaging, documents, and warehousing and integrate with operations and supply chain.
  • Continuously track and scrutinize SKU performance versus business plan and optimize pricing, capacity management, inventory, warehousing and supply chain dynamics to maximize profitability.
  • Support the implementation and management of end-to-end pricing that encompasses market discover, strategy, price setting governance, and enabling tools and technologies.
  • Establish and manage cost models that encompass key cost drivers including packaging, operations, supply chain, and more.
  • Participate in industry and customer events and assist in the creation of appropriate value propositions for targeted customer segments
  • Assist in the demand planning process
  • Recruit, lead, motivate, and manage performance of high functioning Sales team / Distributors / Business partners across Europe


Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Required: MBA, Masters in Finance, or equivalent

•         Preferred: Bachelors in Engineering

  •      10+ years B2B product management experience with complex food ingredient product lines
  • Excellent experience in the following:
