The Supply Chain Analyst – Railcar will be responsible for managing the US and Canadian railcar fleet.  This will be done through managing railcar fleet sizing, capacity utilization, car cycle times, and coordination with Railroad companies to improve service levels.  This position will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

 

Essential functions

  • Manage the refined oils railcar fleet for North America, both US and Canada; 2,000+ cars
  • Management of the fleet includes tasks such as: railcar reassignment, processing shipment exceptions, empty and loaded diversions, and railcar tracing
  • Utilize key logistics software to track and manage the railcar fleet for both the US and Canadian fleet (Borque Logistics - RailTrac, Rate Server, Railport, US & Canadian Railroad websites)
  • Provide support for training on logistics software to key team members as needed
  • Coordinate with Corporate Transportation group to escalate operational & railroad issues that impact the refined oils business
  • Reduce cars loaded at destination and empty at origin by interacting with Sales, Customer Service and the Operations teams to increase inventory turns & reduce total inventory costs
  • Manage customer relationships regarding railcar movement and incoming oil supply so that the customer is aware of their inbound oil position
  • Support and actively participate in meetings with railroad representatives to communicate refined oils concerns and issues
  • Integral team member of plant shutdowns to adjust railcar fleets as appropriate to meet the shutdown schedule
  • Manage process to drive improvement in North American KPI metrics.
  • Manage weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting process to keep the business updated with impactful railcar fleet variances
  • Act as backup for managing the crude railcar fleet.  This will encompass managing the Agribusiness and crush asset network, coordinating schedules with 3rd parties for export oils, and maintaining key stakeholder relationships.

 

Qualifications/ Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Agriculture Economics, or related business discipline required. 
  • 3+ years related experience with a proven track record in supply chain value.
  • Demonstrated understanding of supply chain and operational functions such as (demand planning, production planning, forecasting, truck and rail logistics, supply chain optimization processes, etc.) with specific focus on rail logistics a plus.
  • Proven, effective analytical skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills as well as experience with reporting tools such as Tableau and BW
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions and departments within the organization
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and multi task
  • Ability to work with ambiguity
  • Motivated self-starter who is organized, efficient and team- oriented
