Supply Chain Railcar Analyst          



The Supply Chain Railcar Analyst will be responsible for railcar movement of the US and Canadian railcar fleet.  This will be done through managing railcar fleet sizing, capacity utilization, car cycle times, and coordination with Railroad companies to improve service levels.  This position will be based in Chesterfield, MO and will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.


Essential Functions

  • Oversee the refined oils railcar fleet movement for North America, both US and Canada; 2,000+ cars
  • Perform rail fleet tasks such as: communication with the railroads, railcar reassignment, processing shipment exceptions, empty and loaded diversions, and railcar tracing
  • Utilize key logistics software to track and maintain the railcar fleet for both the US and Canadian fleet (Borque Logistics - RailTrac, Rate Server, Railport, US & Canadian Railroad websites)
  • Review, approve and/or dispute railroad assessorial & freight invoices for empty car movements, rejected loads, rebills, diversions and non-accrual shipments
  • Provide support for training on logistics software to key team members as needed
  • Coordinate with Corporate Transportation group to escalate operational & railroad issues that impact the refined oils business
  • Reduce railcars loaded at destination by interacting with Customer Service, Sales, and Operations teams to increase inventory turns & reduce total inventory costs
  • Inform customers of delays that impact railcar movement and incoming oil supply so that the customer is aware of their inbound oil position
  • Support and actively participate in meetings with railroad representatives to communicate refined oils concerns, issues and opportunities
  • Coordinate and assist within the Supply Chain team, managing oil flows into and out of our plants, including finished oil movements as well as crude oil flows
  • Manage weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting process to keep the business updated with impactful railcar fleet variances
  • Monthly processing of customer demurrage invoices, interact with accounting for proper accruals and following up on invoice repayment


Qualifications / Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years related experience with a proven track record in supply chain value
  • Demonstrated understanding of supply chain and operational functions such as (demand planning, production planning, forecasting, truck and rail logistics, supply chain optimization processes, etc.) with specific focus on rail logistics a plus
  • Proven, effective analytical skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills as well as experience with reporting tools such as Tableau and BW
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions and departments within the organization
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and multi-task
  • Ability to work with ambiguity
  • Motivated self-starter who is organized, efficient and team- oriented
