The primary function is to schedule and plan truck shipments to and from multiple locations to meet internal and external customer needs.  The logistics coordinator will support grain origination and product marketing by arranging freight and will utilize communication methods such as telephone, email and text messaging to plan and execute truck deliveries with and shipments with the carrier base.  The logistics coordinator will ensure that carriers comply with delivery expectations including schedule changes within negotiated freight rates and comply with insurance requirements.

 

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Schedule and dispatch truck shipments for grain deliveries, product shipments and maximize opportunities for coordinating backhauls, when available
  • Communicate with carriers to coordinate delivery times and provide necessary information
  • Respond to and communicate with all parties details related to schedule and planning changes as they arise
  • Coordinate communication between internal customers, carriers and external customers to resolve daily fluctuations in schedules and resolve issues as they occur
  • Coordinate between sales and transportation planners to resolve accrual and expense variances related to freight
  • Administer freight rate quotes to support administration, sales, and supply chain teams (OR Responsible for negotiating freight rates when needed)
  • Communicate with manager on negotiated truck rates with carriers within the established guidelines to obtain competitive freight rates
  • Responsible for communicating and coordinating with manager back haul rates with carriers and working within the established guidelines
  • Responsible for administrative duties associated with contracts and carrier insurance of new carrier contract applications and maintains carrier insurance
  • Maintain a working knowledge of federal rules and regulations that apply to shippers and motor carriers in order to ensure compliance
  • Analyze and distribute reports from SAP and other reports generated from internal Bunge systems
  • Expect to answer after hours calls, emails, text from transportation vendors and internal/external customers
  • Assist with staff rotation weekend railroad billing cycle 

 

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree preferred; High school diploma or equivalency is required
  • 5 years prior directly related work experience in performing truck logistics activities
  • Prior work experience in customer service, both to internal and external customers
  • Prior work experience in bulk grain and related products
  • Demonstrated problem solving experience and ability to react quickly and make decisions in a rapidly changing environment
  • Must have ability to work at a rapid paced team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must be able to effectively and quickly communicate in a variety of mediums including but not limited to face-to-face, telephone, email and text messaging
