Position Summary

 

This position is located in Crete, NE.  The primary function of this position is to ensure the integrity and safety of food products throughout the manufacturing process utilizing various standards and established testing methods, operating procedures, and adherence to protocols and policies. This position supports and assists the Quality Assurance Manager and Crete management team in all aspects to drive the continuous improvement of quality, lab activities and food safety. Provide leadership and technical support with an emphasis on consumer requirements, continuous product quality improvement and productivity requirements.  Provides backup coverage for QA Manager and lab technician during vacation and other leave coverage.

 

Core Functions:

  • Perform all applicable analytical tests on raw ingredients, in-process and finished products; moistures, fats, granulations, protein, fibers, ash, RVA’s etc. in a correct and timely manner
  • See that proper records are maintained in documenting the lab activities
  • Prepare testing solutions, equipment calibrations, general maintenance and upkeep of laboratory
  • Assist in identifying and managing HOLD products
  • Perform data entry on QA database and assist management in data trending
  • Identify quality, procedure and policy deviations; effectively report such deviations and provide accurate information in a timely manner and as needed
  • Provide leadership in our continuous improvement plans
  • Maintain a safe work environment for all employees
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma required
  • Bachelors in Science or Chemistry with some QA experience preferred, but equivalent education or work/QA Experience will be equally weighed.
  • 3 years minimum experience with technical skills within food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Sound decision and teamwork skills are essential. Detail oriented a must
  • Computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Provide a safe work environment through auditing of working conditions
  • Prior work experience with regard to GMPs, SOPs, and FDA regulated environment.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and established test methods.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work with diverse groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise and backgrounds.
  • General knowledge of production processes, food lab instrumentation, laboratory test methods
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform office and data entry work.
  • Must be willing and able to work shifts
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and rotating shifts based upon department/plant needs
  • Need to have the capability to work in a team environment.
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs., tolerate dust and high or low temperature.
  • Must have good organizational skills and basic mathematical skills.

 

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, but must provide coverage for lab techs as needed
