Merchandising & Operations Intern - EGT

Position Summary:
The intern will participate in all aspects of a grain elevator including day to day operations performing all operations functions relating to the Elevator; Control Room, weighing/grading, housekeeping and rail loading activities, in addition to participating in activities related to grain origination.

Core Functions:

• Be an active member of the EGT Safety culture
• Perform weighing and grading of all commodities and input customer information into database
• Load, unload, receive and blend grain from trucks and rail cars
• Operate mobile equipment and properly utilize miscellaneous hand tools
• Actively participate in safety programs and inspections
• Responsible for control room duties, which include continuous monitoring of equipment, processes via computer monitored programs. 
• Assist in performing routine maintenance and housekeeping
• Learn variable and fixed costs associated with running a grain terminal.
• Learn financial metrics of grain terminal.
• Learn quality characteristics of necessary commodities
• Learn proper procedures for grading, binning, and storing grain.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

• Pursuring a Bachelor's Degree
• Strong desire for well-rounded experience in a grain elevator
• Customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, managers, and customers
• Valid driver’s license
• Computer skills including MS Word and Excel
• Communication technology proficient: Email, Texting, Instant Message;  PowerPoint
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outside
