Position Summary:

Responsible for purchasing and managing supplies for manufacturing operations at the Bunge Oils facility in Modesto, CA.


Core Functions:

  • Administer and adhere to all Company purchasing practices, policies, and procedures
  • Purchase products within the limits of quality, quantity, and established performance specifications
  • Select and utilize sources based upon prices, quality, and past performance including prompt delivery.  Utilization of the Bunge Preferred supplier program, and the establishment of contract requirements
  • Review and process claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials, products, and equipment
  • Works with plant staff to research and resolve routine supplier issues (research basic variances with supplier contract terms and conditions, on-time delivery, quality of materials/goods, adherence to specifications); escalates more significant issues to higher level as appropriate
  • Reviews and verifies confirmed orders for agreement with purchase orders and resolves any discrepancies with the supplier in regard to description, costs, delivery and etc.
  • Convert purchasing requisitions to purchase orders for all non-stock items
  • Research and provide purchase order numbers to unassigned invoices
  • Monitor blanket purchase orders in SAP and purchase accordingly
  • Maintain and manage inventory levels for materials in Oil, Shortening
  • Responsible for coordinating both shipments and receiving of materials
  • Conduct cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory is maintained
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary


Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Associates degree in Business or related field preferred but not required
  • 3+ years of purchasing in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all employees and suppliers
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office Suite
