The Industrial Quality Engineer will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Responsible for verification and validation activities for the Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) operations for the U.S. plants.
  • Communicate through presentations with U.S. Crush corporate management on NIR equipment updates, KPI data, trends, and validation.
  • Research new technology to support in-process testing for Industry 4.0.
  • Train facility personnel responsible for the NIR operations on software, sample collection, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Maintain and communicate proper NIR calibrations and ensure all U.S. plants adhere to set programs. 
  • Ability to use AutoCad and/or PDF writer to communicate installation requirements to Engineering.  Support the U.S. plants with NIR installations.
  • Develop a good working relationship with U.S. Crush teams.
  • Work with the Instrumentation/Controls/Electrical team on elevating Bunge U.S. plants to the next level in automation control.  NIRs will be used for Overall Equipment Efficiency by communicating to Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interface display, and then eventually to historians. 
  • Support efforts to implement Industry 4.0 across plants incorporating digitization with Integrators and ICE team.
  • Understanding of plant area safety rating and work with OEM and ICE to establish correct rating and application
  • Identify, promote, and coordinate implementation of NIR best practices across U.S. plants and assist with problem-solving and troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Collaborate with members on the Global NIR and Industry 4.0 teams to establish best practices and equipment trials within the U.S.
  • Update and maintain the BNA NIR Sharepoint site.
  • Promote safety in the workplace.

 

Reporting and Working Relationships

  • This position reports to the Bunge North America NIR Manager.
  • Location in the United States.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with all Crush personnel at the plants and within corporate teams.

 

Required Education/Skills/Experience

  • Equivalent experience or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Education in or understanding of statistics.
  • 2-5 years of NIR experience preferred.
  • Committed to personal safety, employee safety and the integrity of all physical assets.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint are necessary.  Experience with Excel data analysis statistics packages and/or MiniTab. Ability to create powerpoint presentations. 
  • Punctuality and accuracy are critical.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload with a sense of urgency critical to Bunge business.
