Position Description

The primary function is to purchase soybeans and market soybean meal.  This position is also responsible for the coordination of rail and truck logistics.  This position requires good organization, coordination, and communication skills.  


Position Responsibilities

Administer and adhere to all company, federal, state, and local purchasing/marketing practices, policies, procedures and regulations.
Procure soybeans from farmers and elevators.
Manage specialty bean program at the local level.
Manage rail and truck logistics.
Service customers in areas of market information, e-business, bids, hours, grade reporting and accounting issues.
Evaluate and report changing crops and market conditions to appropriate company personnel in a timely and accurate manner.

The Merchandiser will also perform other duties as assigned and recognize that priorities can and will likely shift quickly to adjust to the demands of other departments for the overall benefit of the organization.  


• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Agriculture Economics or related field.  
• 2-5 years experience in commodity marketing for merchandising. 
• Working knowledge of cash commodity trading and CBOT.
• Sales knowledge and negotiations skills.
• Excellent communications skills are a must.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Timeliness and accuracy are critical.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge quickly.
• Proficient PC skills.
