Position Summary:

The Field Sales Representative is responsible for total account management of assigned direct accounts, along with proactively penetrating these accounts to generate new business opportunities/projects.  The Field Sales Representative will also be pro-active in prospecting, re-capturing lost business, and qualifying sales leads to identify new business opportunities and evaluate the type of support the account requires (outside, inside, distribution).

 

Core Functions:

  • Sell refined and specialty oils, margarines, and shortenings to small and medium sized food service accounts. 
  • Ensure compliance with all work processes in accordance with Bunge’s safety policies, procedures and culture, including but not limited to driving and customer on-site trials.
  • Achieve annual sales targets as agreed, incorporating the full range of products/services within identified markets and/or geography.
  • New Business:  proactively contact assigned and/or prospects to inquire on and develop new market and potential business opportunities, increasing BLC’s share of current customer oil usage. 
  • Maintain and build long-term relationships with selected accounts by establishing business relationships with key decision makers in various disciplines (i.e. R&D, Marketing, Purchasing) at the customer and at various levels.  Activities include:
  • Proactively calling customers to re-book existing business and develop new business
  • Prospecting defined markets to identify and win new business.  (new customer acquisition)
  • Manage contract booking and phasing, and monitor customer pulls
  • Monitor receivables/payment terms ensuring timely payment from customers
  • Executing Margin Levels with direction from pricing team and Senior Management
  • Designing account plans for selected customers
  • Managing to service opportunities and customer communication strategy
  • Report information to customers (i.e. contract balances, customer volume pull, market information, and any other general information a customer may need).
  • Monthly reporting on activity.
  • Secure internal and external resources needed to support and achieve defined business plans.
  • Responsible for Food Safety and Quality by understanding and communicating company Quality and Food Safety Systems.

 

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in business, agricultural economics, food science or related science, and 3+ years’ food industry and customer management experience, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must be creative in finding solutions with the help of others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong team commitment and ability to energize and motivate self and others.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with ability to interpret data
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

 

Travel Requirements:

  • This is a work from home position, ideal location of Texas and Arizona 
  • 50%+ travel required to secure new business.                                             
  • Responsible for potentially 100 – 150 accounts.
