The Production Scheduler is responsible for the planning and maintaining of finished goods inventory levels and production schedules needed to satisfy sales demand.  The Production Scheduler is responsible for all the planning functions surrounding the maintenance of the plan schedules and inventory levels.  This includes spoilage management, inventory turns, capacity management, interfacing with customer service and sales when necessary. This position reports to the Senior Plant Analyst and also consults with and advises the plant management team, Corporate Sales, Corporate Customer Service, as well as consults with and advises Production Supervisors and the Warehouse Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for production scheduling, processing scheduling and production reporting 
  • Coordinates with Sales to ensure production orders are being met Inventory turns and warehouse capacity management 
  • Analyze customer demand to determine appropriate inventory levels
  • Work cooperatively with all sales personnel to identify solutions to customer service problems and scheduling conflicts
  • Maintain planning and forecasting data files to support the planning function
  • Work closely with the outside sales force and regional sales managers to establish proper stocking levels for new stocked items
  • Order and coordinate ingredients and materials
  • Establish and maintain systems to support reorder points and exception reports so customer demand is supported
  • Monitor and communicate slow moving inventories to prevent product spoilage
  • Coordinate with Warehouse Department on cycle counts
  • Generate weekly and daily finished goods schedules
  • Publish weekly and daily production schedules
  • Maintain measures of standard performance (Inventory turns, railcar turns, changeovers, schedule changes, etc.)
  • All other duties as assigned by plant management

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Bachelor of Science in Business or related field preferred
  • One to three years of experience in manufacturing scheduling
  • Experience with SAP a plus
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications at an intermediate level
  • Ability to proficiently use a personal computer
  • Accurate data entry skills required
