Responsible for all systems and activities involved in the receiving and storage of ingredients, packaging, and finished goods.  Ensure compliance with company policy and procedures and meet plant production requirements. Supervises Warehouse and Shipping Associates.


Essential Functions:

  • Promotes a safe working environment
  • Conducts training, toolbox talks, and tours for safety
  • Executes good manufacturing practices and maintains sanitation standards (GMP and HAACP) through the supervision of all phases of the receiving and warehousing materials, supplies, and products
  • Practices principles of good people management to include but not limited to hiring and training of new employees and development of subordinates
  • Facilitates good communication by regularly informing management of significant operational issues, changes, and recommendations
  • Assign daily workflow for the associates in your charge
  • Administer or coordinate discipline to affected employees
  • Coordinate the development of written standard operating procedures and ensure the proper training and adherence to such procedures
  • Continually identifies and implements short- and long-term cost savings opportunities, in the areas of responsibility
  • Maintain a schedule for certifying material handling equipment operators
  • Ensure maintenance of all material handling equipment
    Respond and take corrective action related to customer complaints
  • Maintain understanding of plant capacities
  • Monitor levels of materials and ingredients to plan future moves
  • Ensure needs of production are always met  and work with purchasing to bring in supplies
  • Schedule delivery of rail cars based on schedule in a cost-effective manner
  • Ensure integrity of all SAP transactions
  • Daily, review over-allocated report to eliminate any unplanned product shortages
  • Publish daily reports
  • Plan, lead, and conduct inventory counts of ingredients, packaging, and finished goods as determined by management
  • Maintain organization of materials, packaging and finished goods for efficient retrieval, rotation, and inventory
  • Maintain neat and clean storage areas
  • Relief person for basic duties in areas of responsibility as needed
  • Back-up to traffic coordinator and shipping coordinator/supervisor
  • Other Duties as assigned

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • College Degree preferred
  • Minimum three years direct supervision experience
  • Five years warehouse experience, preferably in a production facility
  • Must have or be able to obtain fork-lift certification
  • Computer knowledge required
  • Working knowledge of SAP, inventory control software, and MS office suite
  • 50% office (computer, telephone, driver interaction); 50% warehouse (standing, walking, operation of materials handling equipment). 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally during the shift
