The position will be responsible for the maintaining operations of the meat application laboratory and pilot plant.  Position will focus on teaching and coaching the team on the basic knowledge of meat and meatless applications using plant proteins and texture plant proteins.  This is a hands-on position with emphasis on creating meat related products and formulas to address customer needs, revising formulas, incorporating new technologies, developing training materials for internal sales team.


  • Serve as the meat application expert to achieve deliverables and financial targets
  • Responsible for maintaining pilot plant equipment and safety of operations
  • Mentor and coach the meat application technologist and pilot plant operators
  • Train junior scientists and other Bunge colleagues on equipment associated with meat and meatless applications
  • Focus on developing customer solutions, ingredient characterization, demo formulation, and application shelf life testing.
  • Work closely with pilot plant lead to ensure best in class capabilities are developed and maintained
  • Develop demo products that demonstrate the functionality of Bunge proteins in meat and meatless applications
  • Provide technical expertise to protein ingredient commercial and marketing team.  Travel with sales team as needed
  • Develop and validate test procedures/protocols necessary to characterize competitive proteins and evaluate Bunge protein products and prototypes
  • Develop presentations and sales materials for proteins sales team
  • Develop training materials for proteins sales team and internal business teams
  • Develop safety training program for meat and functional foods application processing equipment


  • Master’s degree or Ph.D degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Animal Science or related field required
  • 10+ years of relevant work with meat and meatless food application to offer the best and robust customer solutions
  • Ability to lead application projects and facilitate the execution of these projects
  • Ability to create technical presentations and present them in front of technical and non-technical audience
  • Have worked in plant and manufacturing environments and are familiar with technical challenges in these settings
  • In depth knowledge in meat equipment handling and operation
  • Able to work in a fast—paced environment, effectively manage teams and workload to meet deadlines, while ensuing a high standard of quality
  • Able to define a clear path to achieve objectives.
  • Monitors process and progress on goal achievement; Keeps others informed.
  • Great communicator, and likes to lead and work in a family values, team environment
  • Collaborative mindset, understands the industry and drive results related to business objectives. Strong teamwork, leadership and influencing skills required
