Bunge is searching for a Manager Customs & ESG EMEA who will be responsible for all day-to-day aspects of import/export and customs operations. The purpose of this role is to ensure compliance with all customs and other international trade requirements and be on top of various international developments related to customs, international trade and ESG.
Your role as Manager Customs & ESG EMEA:
You will work closely together with, and act as the conduit for the flow of information between multiple internal and external stakeholders. In collaboration with Bunge’s businesses, you will flag and implement customs and trade opportunities, address risk areas and provide training and operational mentorship when and where needed in the organization. You will act as Bunge’s main customs and international trade risk officer in EMEA who will ensure Bunge’s business compliancy and control with the aim to continuously improve efficiency in our processes.
You will be located in Zaandam office and have two direct reports (Customs professionals).
Other responsibilities will include:
Customs
- Manage the day-to-day customs operational requirements and compliance with regards to all authorized customs facilitation measures and simplifications including, Inward Processing (IP), bonded warehouse and End Use.
- Implement and control the EMEA level of customs and international trade policies and processes and adapt and develop them based on local and regional requirements.
- Lead critical customs program initiatives and compliant duty mitigation;
- Guide customs advisory services by partnering with various business units and other customs advisory leads to set strategy and design methods that mitigate risks associated with customs operations;
- Initiate and participate in selection and implementation of tax and customs automation solutions including software packages, assessments of processes and data flows, tax systems implementation and/or configuration and overall digital tax transformation.
- Maintain the relationship with Customs authorities around trade compliance (customs, licenses, AEO, etc.) activities
- Manage, generate, and compile evidence for customs audits and requests from customs authorities;
- Provide customs and international guidance to sales, logistics and other internal stakeholders, by using external service providers where necessary, and support business in finding and implementing compliant and workable solutions.
ESG
- Monitor and advise on upcoming changes related to e.g. Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and other ESG related topics to reach a CO2 neutrality in the EU in 2050.
Who are you?
You have already gained extensive experience and knowledge in Customs and international trade and can refer to the EU Tax Directives and Regulations and to the local tax laws. Besides this, we are also looking forward to hearing on your experience with internal controls, risk assessments and audits.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field;
- 10+ years of relevant experience in related field customs and international trade;
- Very strong communication skills with focus on functional and business stakeholders;
- Persistent, resilient, loyal, detail-oriented, and highly structured;
- Negotiation and influencing skills;
- Very high leadership skills, ability to manage and develop team;
- Good knowledge of ESG in relation to customs and global trade;
- Good system knowledge of SAP, MS Office (Excel) and Stratech;
- Fluent in both Dutch and English.
