In the role of Technical Services Lead you’ll be at the heart of this.


The role
 

Leading the Technical Services team and working in close collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Product Management across Europe, this role orchestrates the long-term engagement across our customer base. Ensuring functional excellence in Technical Service in terms of quality and speed of response, customer satisfaction as well as pipeline success is key to the role. Even though leading a team is one of the responsibilities, this function has major hands-on aspects to it. Besides passionately nurturing an international network at senior management level, through direct contact, trade shows, technical consortia and associations, this role also provides front line technical support and translates up-coming market trends towards our innovation pipeline. For example, making effective and creative product/ingredient recommendations, giving impactful presentations on technical topics, addressing processing challenges, as well as identifying market needs across customer interests and connecting this to capabilities, existing and new.

Being a manager, you’ll build talent and succession plans and differentiate according to channels, customer classification, and service levels, closely connecting with peers across regions to learn and share best practice and talent development.
 

This role is aligned to our office in Zaandam and can be partially performed hybrid/remotely. Expected travel is around 30-40% to customers, exhibitions/events and the team.
 

What we are looking for

 

  • A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or equivalent. A PhD is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in English is required, other European languages are needed, you consider yourself a polyglot.
  • At least 5 years people and innovation management at senior level, and 15 years overall experience in the food (ingredients) industry, B2B and B2C are expected, preferably in Confectionary.
  • A track record of successful value creation through innovation, hands-on experience in development and implementation.
  • Strong customer orientation and business acumen, value merchant.
