Role Purpose Statement:
This position requires a deep understanding of end-to-end R2R processes, a strong focus on continuous improvement and transformation, and exceptional leadership abilities. The Deputy General Manager will deputize for the General Manager, overseeing daily operations, leading and mentoring the team, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
The R2R function interacts with numerous stakeholders across the organization, including other finance teams (Controlling, FP&A, Treasury and Tax), business units, and external parties (auditors). Effectively communicating and collaborating with these stakeholders can be challenging.
Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, effectively communicating financial information, and resolving conflicts. Balancing the needs of different stakeholders requires diplomacy and strong communication skills.
Main Accountabilities:
- Leading and managing R2R transformation initiatives, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
- Identifying and prioritizing opportunities for process improvement and automation, including the implementation of RPA, data analytics, and other digital tools. Developing and executing project plans for transformation initiatives, including defining scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Managing all aspects of Trade accounting ,financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strict adherence to relevant accounting standards (like IFRS or US GAAP) and regulatory requirements. This includes establishing and maintaining a robust internal control framework for all RTR activities.
- Leading the RTR team responsible for reconciling accounting results with Business estimate and identifying the reasons of differences, if any, investigate and explain or resolve material differences, executing the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes including This includes journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, consolidations, variance analysis, Trade estimated reconciliation and ensuring all deadlines are met efficiently.
- Overseeing the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements, supporting schedules, and other management reports, ensuring their accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards. This also includes presenting financial results to senior management.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals. This includes setting performance goals, conducting performance reviews, hiring and training staff, and fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders across different departments (e.g., Controlling, FP&A, Treasury, Tax) and external parties (e.g., auditors) to ensure seamless operations and accurate financial information flow.
- Driving process improvements and implementing best practices within the R2R function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and automation. This includes leveraging technology and systems to streamline processes.
- Researching and providing guidance on complex accounting matters and staying abreast of the latest updates in accounting standards and regulatory pronouncements. Implementing new accounting standards and updating related processes.
- Contributing to the budgeting and forecasting process by providing insightful analysis based on historical financial data, current trends, and business performance.
- Coordinating & Managing relationship across different functions like Controlling, FBP’s , Treasury , FP& A and BT for the seamless delivery & timely/ successful implementation of improvement projects
- Leading a team of accounting professionals requires strong leadership and people management skills. The Senior Manager must address performance issues, motivate staff, provide training and development opportunities, and foster a positive work environment. This can be especially challenging when managing remote teams.
- Making decisions related to hiring, performance management, promotions, and succession planning. Addressing conflicts and promoting collaboration within the team. Balancing individual development needs with team goals requires thoughtful leadership.
- Building a high-performing, motivated R2R team that is capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly changing business environment.
Education & Experience:
A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in accounting or finance, with significant exposure to R2R processes and at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role. Experience working with large ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) is often desired.
