Overview:

The Sr BackEnd Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable backend systems for Bunge's digital products. The Sr BackEnd Engineer will work with a team of talented engineers to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and security of Bunge’s backend services. This senior-level role requires advanced technical expertise in backend technologies, exceptional problem-solving skills, the ability to provide technical guidance to other team members as well as oversee/validate outcomes delivered by contracted vendors. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about building reliable and efficient backend services that drive the company's digital initiatives.

Essential Functions:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services and APIs using industry-standard frameworks.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define API requirements and specifications.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with team members.
• Troubleshoot and debug backend issues, and implement solutions to resolve them.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest backend technologies and best practices, and share knowledge with the team.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process and codebase.
• Ensure that backend systems are optimized for performance and scalability.
• Guide teammates on developing efficient and secure backend components
• Establish and promote best practices, standards and guidelines related to back-end engineering for Bunge technology products.

• API response time and throughput.
• Code quality, as measured by code reviews and automated testing.
• System uptime and reliability.
• Ease of use and complexity of maintenance of developed components

Major Opportunities and Decisions:

• Applies technical expertise to analyze and solve problems without clear precedents.
• Identifies ways to apply functional knowledge and methodologies to solve complex challenges.
• Recommends process, product, or service improvements based on anticipated internal and external business challenges.
• Establishes standards, best practices and guidelines for other developers for increased quality of delivery and compliance with internal policies.

Knowledge and Technical Competencies:

• Strong proficiency in Python programming language and experience with leading frameworks like Django, Streamlit and similar.

• Experience with building RESTful and SOAP APIs.
• Deep understanding of Sales Cloud and Service Cloud standard data models
• Understanding of software development best practices and design patterns.
• Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies (including Unit Testing and Debugging, CI/CD pipeline with automated testing).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree with 6 - 10 years of position related experience, or equivalent combo of education and experience level. Has in-depth knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge (know as reference) of related disciplines.

• Experience with working in agile projects.
• Fluency in English
