Overview:
The Disaster Recovery & Resilience Specialist plays a pivotal role within Bunge's Business Technology organization, leveraging extensive knowledge of disaster recovery principles to ensure robust operational continuity. This specialist will be responsible for developing innovative solutions to enhance Bunge's resilience capabilities, demonstrating a deep understanding of the company's business, structure, and strategy. The role requires building strong partnerships, effectively influencing stakeholders to gain commitment, and fostering the growth of others. The individual will drive results by maintaining high standards, focusing on key priorities, and preparing the organization for change. This position involves managing specific projects and processes independently, requiring a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt and recommend best practices within the department.
Essential Functions:
Main Accountabilities
- Lead the development, continuous improvement, and rigorous documentation of comprehensive disaster recovery plans and strategies for critical IT systems, applications, and infrastructure.
- Manage and coordinate end-to-end disaster recovery testing exercises, including complex simulations and actual failover events, analyzing results and implementing corrective actions to ensure readiness.
- Conduct in-depth risk assessments and detailed business impact analyses, working collaboratively with business units to define and validate recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs).
- Drive process improvements and apply best practices within the disaster recovery and resilience framework, utilizing knowledge of internal and external business issues to refine products, services, or processes.
- Provide expert guidance and leadership to technical teams on the implementation and optimization of disaster recovery solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Ensure strict compliance with disaster recovery policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, preparing detailed reports and actively participating in internal and external audits.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training and awareness programs to educate diverse audiences across the organization on disaster recovery procedures and their individual roles.
- Perform thorough post-incident reviews following any disruptive events, identifying root causes, assessing recovery effectiveness, and driving strategic enhancements to future resilience efforts.
Impact/Dimensions:
This role significantly impacts Bunge's operational resilience by applying in-depth knowledge of disaster recovery within the department and a foundational understanding of related IT disciplines. The specialist will adapt departmental plans and proactively recommend solutions and best practices that strengthen Bunge’s ability to withstand and recover from significant disruptions. Their contributions are vital for maintaining business continuity and protecting Bunge's financial stability and reputation on a global scale.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Successful execution and outcome of complex disaster recovery tests.
- Achievement of defined Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) for critical systems.
- Effectiveness of implemented process improvements and best practices.
- Compliance rates with internal and external disaster recovery standards and regulations.
- Stakeholder satisfaction with disaster recovery planning and support.
Major Opportunities and Decisions:
This position presents the opportunity to tackle complex problems that often require extensive analysis and may not have clear precedents, thereby contributing to the delivery of novel solutions. The specialist will apply acquired expertise to analyze and solve challenging issues, recommending process, product, or service improvements. Decisions made will often involve strategic choices about recovery methodologies, technology solutions, and resource allocation to optimize Bunge's resilience capabilities.
Management/Leadership:
This role manages projects and processes, working independently with limited supervision to achieve established goals. The specialist provides leadership to professionals and/or support staff, guiding daily activities and fostering their development. They follow specific functional policies and broad procedures, allowing for tactical choices to reach strategic objectives and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Infrastructure Department.

- Internal: Infrastructure & Operations, Application Development, Information Security, Business Continuity Management, Project Management, and various business unit leaders and stakeholders across Bunge.
- External: Technology vendors, disaster recovery service providers, industry consultants, and regulatory bodies.
Knowledge and Technical Competencies:

Professional proficiency in English
- Expertise in disaster recovery and business continuity planning frameworks (e.g., ISO 22301, NIST, BCI).
- Proven ability to design, implement, and manage comprehensive disaster recovery programs.
- Advanced understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, data protection, and cybersecurity principles.
- Strong analytical skills for conducting detailed risk assessments, business impact analyses, and post-incident reviews.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences, influencing stakeholders at various levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, drive initiatives, and mentor junior team members.
- Proficiency with disaster recovery management tools and platforms.
Education/Experience:
Typically a Bachelor's degree with 11-14 years of position-related experience in disaster recovery, business continuity, or a related IT field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience level.
