A Day in the Life:      

The Plant Electrician is responsible for maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and installation of all electrical equipment in the plant.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:     

  • Please provide a bulleted list of the essential job functions required for this position.
  • Maintenance of all electrical equipment in the plant including but not limited to MCCs, motors, transformers, PLCs, automated controls, valves, and wiring.
  • Automation and Programming of PLCs and controls
  • Installation of new electrical equipment
  • Costing, procuring, and specifying spares, replacements or new equipment
  • Planning and estimating of electrical projects
  • Ensuring that all electrical equipment is compliant with relevant electrical codes
  • Full knowledge of and compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Full knowledge of and compliance with related Good Manufacturing Practices(GMP)
  • Must be on time for work schedule as assigned – regular hours may be adjusted and overtime maybe required from time to time.
  • On-call duties required.
  • Co-operate with other maintenance staff, operations staff, supervisors, management, and outside contractors as required.
  • Must be able to wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment including harnesses, masks, clothing, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand written manuals, blueprints, work orders, etc.
  • Ability to create written records of work, recording work done, parts used, problems, etc.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, catwalks, scaffolding, etc.
  • Willingness to learn new procedures and participate in training.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

 

Skill/Experience Requirements:  

  • Understanding and compliance with the Canadian Electrical code and all local codes and regulations.
  • Valid Provincial or Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrician (Industrial license preferred).
  • Training or experience in low and medium voltage equipment (up to 5000V).
  • Training and experience in an industrial facility preferred.
  • Training and experience with RSLogix5000, RSNetworx, RSLinx programming software, Factory Talk View Studio/Client HMI development software, and Allen Bradley electrical equipment preferred.
  • Training and experience with fiber optics an asset.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Unrestricted cross border mobility required.
  • Experience with SAP Computerized Maintenance Management software an asset.

 Vacation

  • The year of hire – 1.25 days of vacation for each full month worked to 12/31.

  • The year in which 9 years of service is completed – 4 weeks
