A Day in the Life: 

The Meal Load‑Out Operator plays a critical role in the safe loading and shipment of finished meal products while supporting efficient plant operations. This position is responsible for loading railcars and trucks, maintaining housekeeping standards, and ensuring compliance with safety, food safety, and operating procedures. Through attention to detail, equipment knowledge, and strong teamwork, the Meal Load‑Out Operator helps protect product integrity, maintain accurate records, and support reliable, safe operations within the Crush Department.

 

Position Details: 

  • This is a full-time position and typically involves 10-hour shifts, which may include day and evening hours, and weekends. The current rotation requires working two out of every five weekends.
  • Work Schedules: There are two primary operating shifts and one maintenance shift:
    • Operating Shifts: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 11:00 PM with a paid half-hour lunch
    • Maintenance Shift: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM with a unpaid half-hour lunch
  • Pay Rate: $27.41 per hour

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Load meal into railcars and trucks, ensuring product integrity and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Inspect railcars and trucks prior to loading, rejecting equipment that does not meet safety or quality requirements and completing required inspection documentation.
  • Monitor storage tank levels to prevent overflows and support accurate inventory tracking.
  • Collect and record representative product samples for laboratory analysis on each load.
  • Complete required documentation, including affidavits of loading and other shipping paperwork.
  • Operate and maintain dust collection systems, ensuring proper function and cleanliness.
  • Perform general operating and housekeeping duties in the meal area and the Crush Department.
  • Conduct minor equipment maintenance when time allows or when directed by supervision.
  • Use operating systems and tools, including GTM, SAP, and One Weigh, to support loading and documentation activities.
  • Maintain compliance with safety policies, GMPs, and Standard Operating Procedures, including those related to meal load‑out and rail yard operations.
  • Participate in ongoing training, keeping current with all in‑house and online training requirements.
  • Support team responsibilities, ensuring the meal room, storage, and loading areas remain safe, clean, and operational.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested by Crush Management.

 

Skills/Experience Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Agricultural or industrial background is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of equipment.
  • Ability to operate computer systems with keyboard proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative without direct supervision.
  • Strong reliability and professionalism, including punctuality and shift coverage.
  • Ability to lift consistently up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs).
  • Ability to work at heights and perform confined space entries.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in industrial environments.
  • Reliable attendance, including remaining on shift until relieved by the next operator as scheduled.
