Love tackling tough mechanical challenges? Become a crucial part of the global food supply chain as Mechanic at our large-scale soybean processing plant in Amsterdam! You will work on diverse, heavy-duty equipment in a supportive environment with opportunities for growth. We offer competitive pay & benefits (23 ADV days, 13th month).

The Soybean Factory in Amsterdam: What we do (and why it's cool)

Our soybean plant in the Amsterdam harbor is a lively hub of activity. We take soybeans shipped all the way from Brazil, South America, Canada, and Ukraine and transform them into soybean oil and soy meal. Think giant ships, siwertells unloading beans, towering silos, a crush site and a refinery —it's a pretty impressive operation! Join us and become part of this global supply chain.

Your Day-to-Day (it's more than just fixing things)

As a Mechanic at our plant, you will become a valued member of our maintenance team. We are a supportive group who believe in sharing knowledge and celebrating successes together. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our large-scale facility. Your focus will be on minimizing disruptions and downtime, contributing to a culture of reliability and safety. Here's a glimpse into what you'll be doing:

  • Keeping Things Running Smoothly: You will perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of equipment. Everything from the massive conveyors bringing in soybeans from the ships to the intricate machinery in the refining and loading areas needs your expert care.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Putting your diagnostic skills to use to solve issues, find the root cause, and implement effective repairs.
  • Plant-Wide Action: Your work will take you all across our facility, from the port receiving area to the processing plant and loading zones.
  • Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: You won't be on your own. You'll become part of a team of about 40 mechanics, collaborating and sharing knowledge to keep the entire plant operating efficiently. We believe in helping each other learn and grow.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement: We value your input. Share your insights and expertise to help us improve our maintenance processes and identify potential problems before they occur. Your ideas are essential to enhancing the reliability and efficiency of our plant.
  • Professional development: The world of industrial mechanics is constantly evolving. We will provide opportunities for you to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques, including training on our specialized equipment.
  • Be Part of the On-Call Rotation: We take turns being on call (approximately one week every 5 weeks) to handle any urgent breakdowns that happen outside of normal working hours. (You will be compensated for your effort).
  •

What your manager has to say about the role

"This role is perfect for someone who thrives in an industrial environment and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. You need to be adaptable, ready to remake your plans on the fly. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities for improvement. Our plant may be a bit dated, but that just means there’s a lot of potential for enhancements and the plant is continuously evolving. Creativity and outside-the-box thinking are crucial here. Despite its age, this is the best plant I've ever worked in—very no-nonsense and the kind of place where the industrial environment feels like home. Our team is diverse, with members from all sorts of backgrounds, and everyone pulls together to make things better every single day."

What we're looking for in you

  • MBO+ technical education (e.g., mechanical engineering or mechatronics) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a similar role (even if it's from a different industry, like automotive, and you're looking for that next step).
  • Good knowledge on maintenance programs.
  • If you have peripheral system knowledge such as power, process air, and chemicals, we will call you first.
  • Fluency in English, Dutch is a preference.
  • Residing in the Netherlands is a must.

What we offer (It's a Great Place to Work)

You'll be joining a global leader in agribusiness and food ingredients at one of the largest Soybean Crush locations in the Netherlands. Imagine a workplace where your skills are valued, and your contributions directly impact how we feed and fuel the world. Bunge is operating in over 40 countries with a mission to connect farmers to consumers to deliver essential food, feed, and fuel to the world. We are committed to sustainability and innovation, continually striving to improve our processes and deliver the best products to our customers.

We're always striving to improve, and you can make a real difference. This challenging role offers a chance to showcase your technical expertise in a large-scale environment. Plus, you’ll enjoy a great compensation package, including:

  • A dynamic and challenging role with plenty of room to grow.
  • A competitive starting salary based on your experience.
  • On-call rotation bonus of 9.8% of your annual salary.
  • A 13th month and 23 ATV days (additional days off on top of the regular 24 holiday days).
