| Role Purpose Statement | The Quality Assurance Engineer I demonstrates a high level of professionalism, prioritizing the execution of quality assurance activities within the IT department. Responsibilities include participating in projects of small to medium complexity, contributing to process improvements to obtain important results, and ensuring that software applications and IT infrastructure meet the highest quality standards. Applies practical knowledge of test automation tools like TOSCA to create efficient and reusable automated test suites, contributing to increased test coverage and faster development cycles. Leverages Test management tools like QTest / ALM for robust test management, defect tracking, and reporting, ensuring thorough documentation and analysis of software quality throughout the development lifecycle. |
| Main Accountabilities | Designs, develops, and executes test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on software requirements and user stories, for projects of small to medium complexity. Collaborates with software developers and other IT professionals to review and analyze system specifications and project documentation. Identifies, documents, and tracks software defects using bug tracking tools, providing detailed reports to the development team for resolution. Develop and execute automated test scripts using TOSCA, focusing on creating maintainable and scalable test automation solutions. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, promoting continuous testing and faster feedback loops. Contributes to the development and maintenance of quality assurance best practices, procedures, and methodologies. Participates in the review and analysis of test results, providing recommendations for improvements to the software development process. Actively participate in the review and analysis of test results, identifying trends and patterns to provide actionable recommendations for improving the software development process. Provides regular updates to project stakeholders on the status of testing activities, defects, and overall software quality. Stay current on evolving software development methodologies, testing techniques, and industry best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. |

| Technical | Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall). Proficiency in using test management tools like QTest for test planning, execution, defect tracking, and reporting. Familiarity with different operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux). Understanding of database concepts and SQL. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. |
| Education & Experience | Typically Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required with 4-5 years’ experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in a related field preferred. |
