Role Purpose Statement This role is part of a very dynamic Global Middle Office Team. The purpose of this Middle Office role is to accurately control the business performance and exposure and to ensure timely delivery of the daily reports. Serving as a dynamic and proactive business partner providing a vital data and analytical link between Commercial team and Back Office throughout the company:

1) Support the commercial / Finance Partner team on all needed financial analysis and reporting
2) Provide for a robust and reliable process on understanding results and position
3) Develop and implement tools / dashboard to streamline and standardize access to daily reports
4) Improve process efficiency and effectiveness as it relates to financial analysis
5) Coordinate cross function communication /alignment across middle office / trade support / execution / accounting and control processes
6) Standardize and share best practices
 
 
 
Main Accountabilities • Coordination within respective VC global structure to deliver and publish an accurate and reliable Daily Global VC Commodity Positions & PL
• Consolidate, transform and analyze data from multiple sources to meet reporting requirement
• Working with Risk / Commercial /Finance teams to ensure price, positions are correctly calculated and mapped into the reporting tools and systems
• Drive business insights into Daily Global position & P&L, including analysis on the main drivers / components
• Manage daily/monthly quantity reconciliations for trading and plant activities and resolve issues
• Foster full understanding of commodity flows in respective VC
• Engage and support data accuracy of VC KPI's


• Serve as a focus liaison with cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Executions, Trade support, Middle office, Risk and other teams to enhance quality of the analyses and business insights
• Fosters service improvement, good practice, continuous learning, knowledge transition of daily activities to Middle office Team
• Keep critical eye on the business side of activities processed by Middle Office

• Key contributor to alignment and improvement of the tools and processes to stick to evolving business and requirements
• Optimize Excel-based reports to reduce rote tasks, minimize human error and improve production speed
• Act as process super-user for current functionality / provide support regarding needed enhancements to technology, workflows, and processes
• Actively participate and drive ad hoc strategic and operational projects as required

• Prepares timely and accurate financial management reports including analysis on structural and trading/positioning components

• Provides expertise, guidance and advice related to monthly closing for Geneva/ other books
• Oversees and leads on the preparation and distribution of timely and accurate review of accruals, extra costs and Bad Debts reports

Technical • Strong analytical skills and business acumen - good understanding of commodity trading and mark to market is a plus
• Relevant experience with mark-to-market accounting within a commodity trading firm 
• Good knowledge of SAP
• Fluent English – other language an asset
• High proficient excel skills
 
 
 
 
Education & Experience • University degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field level
• Minimum 5+ year of experience in accounting, finance or control preferably in the commodity trading industry
• Ability to deal with complex problems involving non-standardized situations
