The Production Scheduling and Planning Manager is responsible for forecasting and preparing schedules for production and raw material purchases/deliveries for multiple facilities, ensuring each operation meets shipping dates according to sales forecasts and orders. The Production Scheduling and Planning Manager will maximize the efficiency of the supply chains for lecithin, bulk and packaged goods while managing to the appropriate amount of inventory at all facilities. Position reports to the Lecithin Product Manager and also serves as the liason between operations management and supply chain management personnel to ensure all internal and external customer demand is met.

 

Main Accountabilities

  • Promote safety by driving a zero-incident culture ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Plan and execute procurement of raw materials (raw lecithin, packaging materials, processing aids, etc.) from preferred suppliers for three facilities.
  • Work with plant and corporate purchasing functions to approve and maintain all suppliers in SAP for three lecithin facilities.
  • Work with plant and corporate supply chain functions to track demand and production in SAP for three lecithin facilities.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the supply chain staff and preferred suppliers to communicate and confirm shipping schedules for three facilities. Maintain and monitor open purchase orders to ensure on-time deliveries for all three facilities.
  • Responsible for production forecasting, scheduling, and reporting for multiple facilities.
  • Prepare production schedules to maximize plant output and optimize efficiencies across all three facilities.
  • Coordinate with product line management, sales staff, customers, and supply chain to ensure production orders are satisfied with on time delivery.
  • Inventory turns and warehouse capacity management for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Analyze and establish systems to track customer demand to determine appropriate inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods. Maintains appropriate safety stock to satisfy demand forecasts.
  • Monitor and communicate slow moving inventories to prevent product spoilage and maximize plants output.
  • Partner with product line management to identify inefficient products to optimize portfolio and maximize profitability.
  • Coordinate logistics and supply chain of all by-products.
  • Coordinates with Warehouse Department on cycle counts for all warehouses.
  • Generate weekly and daily finished goods schedules.
  • Publishes weekly and daily production schedules.
  • Maintain measures of standard performance (inventory turns, changeovers, schedule changes, etc.)
  • May supervise others.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or commensurate work experience
  • 10+ years of scheduling experience preferred
  • Must be able to work overtime, as required
