A Day in the Life:

The Maintenance Technician performs maintenance activities including but not limited to equipment, buildings, grounds, utilities, and other devices on a 24/7 schedule in order to maintain safe and efficient operation and comply with food safety and process quality standards. Must be willing to work overtime and respond to call-in work. 

 

 

Position Details:

Monday – Friday, 11:00pm – 7:30am with some overtime, weekend, and on call work

$39.05 ($40.16 with Ammonia Certification)

 

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Install, repair or service machinery, equipment, and support systems
  • Work directly with production associates and management to problem-solve and correct production issues that will ensure maximum production efficiencies
  • Troubleshoot and maintain production lines and/or processing equipment
  • Perform all necessary maintenance to production lines, refrigeration, air, water, wastewater, and boiler systems (including rebuilds, welding, valve repair, plumbing, and solenoid selection)
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance systems for all production equipment and/or processing equipment
  • Manage predictive and preventive maintenance practices on facilities support equipment such as boilers, ammonia compressors, air compressors, and water and wastewater treatment systems
  • Perform systematic preventative maintenance, including electrical or mechanical adjustments, inspections and minor repairs
  • Use computer and associated software on PLC’s to troubleshoot and correct equipment issues
  • Gain understanding of the principles of Thermodynamics and how it affects ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems
  • Perform water treatment tests to maintain and operate condenser cooling towers and associated equipment
  • Actively assist with planning/scheduling and storeroom staff for CMMS tracking: work orders, parts, purchase requisitions
  • Other duties as required

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Extensive maintenance background which may include hydraulics, controls, welding, electrical, PLC’s, and pneumatics
  • Strong problem-solving skill, and the ability to work efficiently in stressful situations
  • Maintenance experience in boilers, refrigeration (preferably anhydrous ammonia), air compressors, electrical systems, plant fire protection system, and hydraulics
  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance-related problems
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Ability to read diagrams, blueprints, and schematics  
  • Ability to visually identify defective parts
  • Ability to distinguish machine sounds to detect potential mechanical issues
  • Ability to move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work at heights and at extreme temperatures
