A Day in the Life:

 

The Production Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of daily production activities within their assigned department during their shift. This role emphasizes safety, productivity, and compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

 

  1. Safety Culture: Creating and maintaining a safety-focused environment where unsafe acts are not tolerated, and a zero-injury goal is shared by all.
  2. Overseeing Production: Supervising and managing all production activities within the assigned department (Grain Elevator) during the shift. This involves ensuring efficient operations, troubleshooting issues, and reporting any problems.
  3. Food Safety Compliance: Ensuring the shift adheres to all food safety protocols, regulations, and customer requirements. Maintaining a food safety culture is vital for producing safe and compliant products.
  4. Sanitation Compliance: Ensuring the assigned shift complies with sanitation requirements and supporting sanitation inspections and corrective actions. Maintaining a sanitary environment is critical for food safety and product quality.
  5. Productivity Tracking and Improvement: Monitoring, tracking, and reporting on shift productivity improvements. This involves identifying areas for enhancement and driving continuous improvement efforts.
  6. Reporting and Documentation: Approving daily reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPRs) for the assigned shift. Accurate and timely reporting is essential for tracking progress and identifying potential problems.
  7. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Addressing operational issues, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and implementing corrective actions. Promptly addressing problems is vital for maintaining production efficiency.
  8. Planning and Continuous Improvement: Providing input for annual shutdown planning and actively supporting continuous improvement activities and change management within the assigned shift. This proactive approach helps optimize operations and adapt to changing needs.

 

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field (industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering) is preferred, but equivalent experience (2+ years) in relevant operations (soybean crushing, oil refining, milling, oil packaging) can substitute.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills (Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, etc.) is required.
  • Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including weekends and odd hours.
