Position details:
This is a permanent full-time position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday from 7am to 3:30pm. The Millwright must be able to work overtime as required. The Company reserves the right to alter the starting and quitting times as well as the working schedules for the efficient operation of the business.
This is a unionized position (United Food and Commercial Workers Union - Local 175).
Hourly rate is 48.07/hr
A Day in the Life:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Millwright will respond to Plant equipment maintenance tasks and complete construction and fabrication projects as assigned. This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of equipment in the Hamilton Crush and Edible Oils Facilities. This will include troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic industrial equipment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by safely performing maintenance tasks to troubleshoot, repair and maintain all facility equipment (e.g. conveyors, elevators, pumps).
- Operates fork truck to move parts materials
- Welds and fabricates equipment as needed
- Participate in the training of new maintenance staff
- Able to participate in a pager program. This means that approximately every sixth week, the incumbent will be required to carry a Company cellphone during off-shifts and weekends for the purpose of responding to non-scheduled maintenance requirements
- Other duties as assigned.
Skill/Experience Requirements:
- Current and valid 433A Industrial Mechanic Certificate of Qualification in the province of Ontario
- Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certificate Red Seal Endorsement is preferred
- CWB welding certificates are an asset.
- Knowledge of Food Safety Programs (HACCP and GMP) is an asset.
- Prior experience as a Millwright / Mechanic in an industrial setting - 2 to 5 years.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting rotating equipment.
- Ability to read shop prints and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of Predictive Maintenance techniques and practices is an asset.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work in exposure to extreme temperature ranges.
- Able to work in areas that are continually exposed to grease, oil, dust, fumes.
- Ability to climb and work on ladders.
- Ability to work at height.
- Able to work in confined spaces that have been correctly permitted and monitored for vessel entry.
- Must be able to safely operate a fork truck; walk, stand, stoop or kneel for extended periods of time.
- Ability to wear the required PPE at all times; safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat.
- Ability to wear specialized PPE as required: fall arrest harness and lanyard, respirator.
- Able to travel periodically when needed
