A Day in the Life:

Maintenance Technician II performs maintenance activities including but not limited to equipment, buildings, grounds, utilities and other devices on a 24/7 schedule in order to maintain the corn milling operation safe and efficient, complying with food safety and process quality standards.  Maintenance II also performs electrical and mechanical maintenance on variable frequency drives, augers, elevators, belts, compressors, etc. Constructs, repairs, installs and removes various machines, equipment and piping. Must be willing to work overtime and respond to call-in work. Supports the Maintenance team to provide 24/7 coverage as per the schedule provided by Maintenance Supervision. 

 

Position Details: 

  • Rotating 12-hour shifts (days and nights), 3.5 days per week.
  • On-call availability required.
  • Competitive hourly rate: $26.91.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • All job duties require attention to safe operation and demonstration of safe work habits and behaviors. This includes the use of appropriate personal protective equipment for the job task.
  • Observe all Safety and Food Safety guidelines and adhere to all company rules and policies as well as good manufacturing practices.
  • Read and interpret drawings and layouts.
  • Set up and operate equipment necessary to perform all functions of the craft.
  • Install, maintain, replace, or remove equipment and machines or any other production or maintenance devices.
  • Perform repairs to and check machines and equipment for correct operation.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical operations necessary for the construction, installation, repair and operation of equipment and devices of the plant.
  • Rebuild, repair, replace damaged, defective parts.
  • Work at all areas of the plant including, indoors, outdoors , confined spaces, and  working at heights with the proper PPE.
  • Test and repair electrical circuits, components or systems.
  • Operate forklift.
  • All duties include general area housekeeping responsibilities.
  • All duties require attention to product specifications and proper product handling.
  • All duties require equipment and tank inspection in accordance with safety and operating procedures.
  • Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Additional duties as requested or assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an apprenticeship program and/or 3 years of equivalent electrical maintenance experience preferred.
  • Electrician Training and certification (Ark flash/High voltage) preferred.
  • Basic computer hardware and software knowledge.
  • LOTO training and experience required.
  • Ability to read and understand SOPs, prints and manuals required.
  • Good organizational and communication skills required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment required.
  • Ability to safely drive forklift required.
  • Must be able to proficiently read and write in English for the purposes of record keeping and safety training and processes.
  • Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious environment required.
