The primary purpose of a New Product Technologies (NPT) executive is to support on medium- to long-term research project (i.e. regional and global) by planning and executing the relevant projects in an accurate and timely manner. He/She holds a strategic and supporting role in the organization through innovation structure by providing technical expertise in designing new product and processes with the required specification on a commercial scale, supporting business development function in profiling product for relevant market and meeting quality, regulatory and compliance requirement for merchandise/export.
Accountabilities :
1. Innovate new product/process
a. Explore and identify market requirement/gap and develop the value-added solution to support & drive business growth and/or protect existing business.
b. Stay vigilant with relevant category literature, process advancements and development trend to provide technical solution, develop marketing concept and drive commercial and innovation development with cross-functional stakeholders.
c. Research and perform new product/process development projects in laboratory & pilot plant in accurate and timely manner, and ensure good record keeping.
d. Evaluate the new developed process and product operational and regulatory feasibility with the manufacturing process knowledge.
e. Conduct test for relevant processing parameters and analyse the results to sort out the recognized pattern and derive purpose-driven interpretations
f. Evaluate and explore new raw materials/additives/processing aids for commercialization purpose.
g. Create new product formulation and prototype through experimentation designs and pilot plant test.
h. Provide technical support to customer relavant to the collaborated and/or development projects with oils and fats knowledge.
2. Operational manufacturing support and scale up of new products/process
a. Establish new product and process specification, related quality characteristics and maintain the inspection plan documentation in both internal record and SAP system.
b. Participate in production trial monitoring and coordinate with production engineer and relevant personnel on ensuring product quality and processing parameter.
c. Conscientiously maintain development and production trial reports to ensure intellectual proprietary protection, project traceability and reproducibility.
d. Collect data from production trial including product quality, process parameters, process yield, product & process prototype cost model, etc. to determine commercialization viability with cross-functional stakeholders.
e. Deliver production trial progress, communicate result and production implementation closing presentation to the relevant stakeholders (i.e. QA/QC, Production & Commercial)
3. Manage pilot plant process workflow
a. Troubleshoot or optimize operational processes and pilot plant related problems and issues.
b. Ensure and maintain good housekeeping, safety and cleanliness of laboratory/ pilot plant equipment.
c. Supporting and maintaining pilot plant processes standard operating procedures (SOPs), equipment logsheet and preventive maintenance logsheet.
d. Participate in establishing, monitoring, and improving all food safety policies, 5S, QMS including ISO9001, GMP, etc. which related to pilot plant and laboratory activities.
Requirement :
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related disciplines.
2. Preferably minimum 3 years working experience in edible oil industry or product development equivalent role in relevant to specialty fat processes handling
3. Demonstrate pro-active, creative and agile problem solving skill with strong ability to work independently as well as a team-player.
4. Demonstrate adaptability and motivation in fast growing environment.
5. Posseses good interpersonal skills, confident and ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders. Fluent in English.
6. Experience in product/process development activities and managing projects with good organizational, time management, research, critical thinking, analytical and planning skills to ensure final product launching with meeting relevant regulation and compliance.
