Trade and Compliance Specialist

Ensuring a company's import and export activities comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Include monitoring trade laws, developing and implementing compliance programs, classifying products (e.g., using HTS codes), managing customs inquiries, and providing training to internal teams. This role requires a deep understanding of customs regulations and often involves working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal departments like legal, sales, and logistics.

Coordinate, evaluate, prepare & manage organization trade and compliance application/submission including daily run activities but not limited to resolve escalations, developing/supporting new process or procedure to enhance productivities as well at database maintenance and reporting.

To ensure the organisation's full compliance with Malaysian trade, tax, and industry-specific regulations, particularly within the palm oil sector, by diligently declaring daily sales & purchase contracts for MPOB, navigating complex exemption and application processes, and submitting timely reports. This role is critical in optimising operational costs, facilitating smooth import and export activities, and staying abreast of evolving regulatory frameworks to safeguard business interests and maintain operational efficiency.

Accountablities : 

1. Contract and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure daily updates and adherence to MPOB Sales & Purchase contracts.
2. Tax Exemption Management: Manage Sales and Services Tax (SST) exemption applications and prepare quarterly SST Exemption Reports.
3. Governmental Scheme Applications: Handle applications related to PENJENISAN, MIDA, FOSIM, and Customs 14(2) applications, including preparing quarterly MIDA import Duty Customs 14(2) reports.
4. MPOB Reporting: Execute monthly updates for MPOB e-Perniagaan.
5. SST Return Submission: Manage the submission of SST02 & SST02A return payments.
6. Product Classification: Determine and propose appropriate Harmonised System (HS) Codes for new products to ensure accurate customs classification
7. Trade Incentive Applications: Prepare and renew Cost Analysis applications for the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to secure preferential trade benefits.
8. Export Duty Management: Submit monthly Export Duty Exemption applications for Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO) and Refined Bleached Deodorised Palm Kernel Oil (RBDPKO).
9. ASEAN Trade Reporting: Prepare and update quarterly reports for the ASEAN-wide Self-Certification Scheme (AWSC).
10. Regulatory Monitoring: Continuously monitor and implement the latest updates and changes relevant to e-Dagang net and other pertinent regulatory platforms.
11. Customs and trade operations: Respond to customs inquiries, manage customs audits, and assist with the preparation of required documentation and filings, such as denied party screening and Certificates of Origin
12. Training and guidance: TraRecord keeping: Ensure all necessary records for trade activities are maintained in an organized and audit-ready manner.
13. Risk assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential trade compliance vulnerabilities.
14. Auditing: Conduct internal audits to validate compliance with governing trade laws and procedures. in business personnel on import/export laws and compliance procedures, and advise internal teams on how regulations affect their operationsRequirement :

• Midst of completing Bachelor Degree in Food Science or technology or related discipline.
• Duration of internship :  6  months
• Good communication and presentation skill.
• Possess knowledge of food science and/ or technology skills and techniques.
• Willing to work in lab.

Requirement : 

1. Bachelor Degree and above in related field.
2. More than 5 years’ experience on supply chain / documentation
3. Supply chain knowledge especially on Trade & Compliance (MPOB, SST, Custom applications, MITI applications & Duty Exemption process)
