Role Purpose Statement

• Manage the strategic and operational performance of the Quality Department to ensure the successful delivery of business strategies, Key Performance Indicators and objectives.
• Ensure the 100% quality checking of raw and FG and food safety management.

Main Accountabilities

• Performs inspections of processes, employee training, compliance with applicable food laws and regulations as applicable and verifies plant HACCP / FSMS plans.
• Defines best lab practices and provides guidance and adherence to quality policies.
• Actively participates in resolving customer complaints.
• Integral part of plant leadership team. Provides support to Sales, R& D and Operations on customer issues, questions and concerns.
• Position Responsibility Develop and manage processes and procedures for plant quality improvements.
• Responsible for day to day monitoring and management of all activities of quality department.
• Review and summarize data to understand trends and issues and to make decisions related to product safety and quality in areas of assigned responsibility.
• Preparing and justifying the Quality departments budget and resource requirements
• Maintain and communicate knowledge of current regulations on appropriate product technology.
• Responsible for Daily and monthly report and issues to top management.
• Responsible for providing training, support and guidance for the development of competency skills.
• Responsible for the monitoring of process parameters, testing and analysis of RM PM and Finished Goods.
• Responsible for Monitoring and managing Agmark, FSSAI & Weight & Measurement activities,
• Responsible for quality compliance from RM/PM receiving to production to Dispatch.
• Responsible for proper operation and calibration of lab equipment carrying out internal audit like FSMS, HACCP, GMP, Vendor audit, Cold room warehouse audit documentation like SOPs preparation etc. Pest control management.
• Implementation and sustain quality systems like Food Safety management system FSSC 22000 /(ISO 22000), ISO 9001:2008 GMP, GLP, Halal, Kosher, & support the relevant departments for SEDEX certification & RSPO Certification.
• Responsible for implementation of BPS – QFS system in plant as per target.
• Improvement in QFS activities for North Depot by conducting audits & imparting trainings to them
• Take part in cross audit programs for contractual manufacturing units to improve QFS system and help them to reduce the complaints.
• Maintain the quality and food safety of NDC plant
• Support production team as a back up of Senior Production Manager and maintain reliability of production plan, quality and handling of manpower.

Dimensions

• Quality Clearance of Production of 500 MT per day in both VP & RO Refinery before packing
• Improve upon the reliability of FG through proper testing and analysis resulting in Quality uniformity. Uniformity in quality will result in reduced customer complaints resulting in increased profitability.
• Indorse GHP, personal hygiene in production and packing area
• Ensure to implement FSSAI requirements for products and packaging on our products.

Knowledge and Skills

• Certification of Bunge Rajpura unit as per regulatory compliance like FSSAI,Legal Meterology and Agmark.
• Cross functional interaction with SCM,Oil Desk and Procurement for QFS improvements.
• Closure of FS nearmiss and market complaints by reactive and proactive approach
• Zero Recall & Withdrawals as per indent classifications
• Development of Food safety Culture and implementation of FSSC 22000 Version 6 in plant.
• Handling of institutional customer audits and closure of audit findings in collaboration with respective departments

Major Opportunities and Decisions:

• New product line of 3-MPCD and Non GMO refined oils for intuitional MNC buyers.
• BPS QFS pillar implementation in plant.
• Stream line FS culture as per new FSSC guidelines.

Management/Leadership:

• Must be technically and knowledge-wise sound to handle situations and good at taking real-time decisions in compliance with QFS/FSSAI Guidelines
• Development of team members.

• Internal: Plant Operations, S&OP, R&D, Oil Desk, Marketing, Sales & legal
• External: FSSAI, AGMARK, Legal Meteorology, Various certifications bodies & Customers

Technical

• Knowledge of lab analysis of all kinds of Edible Oils. Standard requirements and parameters for quality checking, packaging material etc. Proper knowledge about the use of various standard laboratory equipment and apparatus used. Knowledge about statutory compliance related to FSSAI/W&M & Quality Systems and Procedures.

Education & Experience

• M.Sc.  (Chemistry/Oil & Fats/Food/Microbiology ) or B.Tech. ( Chemical/ Oil & Fats/Food) + Any Management Course
• 16-25  years’ experience in  Oil & Fat or similar industries.
