Your Role in Our Network (Rotterdam – full-time) As a Junior Operations Officer – Chartering (Voyage) within our Operations Voyage team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective execution of all chartering transactions. Reporting to the Team Lead Operations, you will deliver service to our counterparties and expertly navigate the complexities inherent in global shipping. This position is strategically central to our operations, offering unparalleled exposure to international trade and logistics. Please note, given the dynamic and often time-sensitive nature of global shipping, this role necessitates a flexible approach to working hours, including occasional availability during evenings and weekends to address urgent operational matters.

You'll be managing a dynamic fleet of 15-20 vessels operating worldwide – across Europe, South America, and Asia – providing an incredibly international experience. You are the vital link, the central point connecting logistical needs with shipping realities. You'll engage with diverse cultures, learning how to effectively collaborate with agents, owners, and captains. This is a hands-on learning environment where you witness every aspect of the shipping process, from loading and unloading to navigating unforeseen challenges at sea. It’s a truly engaging role where you learn something new every day and directly impact our global operations."
Key Responsibilities In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the smooth execution of all voyage operations, encompassing:
- Vessel Monitoring & Coordination: Proactively monitor, update, and approve vessel positions and port turnarounds daily, ensuring accurate and timely communication to all relevant internal (e.g., Commercial, Trade) and external parties (e.g., Charterers, Owners, Port agents).
- Data & System Management: Maintain precise and current data within our voyage management system (IMOS VIP), including accurate daily position updates, to ensure all critical operational information is efficiently recorded and readily accessible.
- Financial & Itinerary Oversight: Coordinate closely with pricing and commercial teams for any changes in vessel itineraries or adjustments to freight/hire terms. This also includes developing a strong understanding of laytime calculations, reviewing voyage profit and loss statements, and supporting accurate invoicing.
- Contractual Compliance: Meticulously ensure all terms and conditions of charter parties are rigorously followed and fulfilled, including monitoring the tendering of notices.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Problem-Solving: Actively cultivate relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, from vessel commands to legal and finance departments. You will frequently serve as a central point for addressing unforeseen challenges and coordinating effective solutions.
Candidate Profile: Your Skills & Experience We are seeking a highly motivated individual who demonstrates the following:
- Flexibility & Adaptability: You thrive in a dynamic environment and fully comprehend that global shipping demands flexibility beyond standard office hours, including occasional availability during evenings and weekends to address urgent operational matters.
- Educational Background & Relevant Experience: A higher professional education (Bachelor / HBO), is preferred, ideally in logistical management, international business, nautical, technical, or maritime studies. We welcome recent graduates with relevant internships or up to a few years of professional experience in an internal business environment. A proven affinity for shipping is paramount.
- We are seeking a proactive and analytical problem-solver with meticulous attention to detail, capable of prioritizing tasks in a dynamic environment. You are an outgoing, communicative individual with a strong understanding of diverse cultures and fluency in English. Dutch language skills come highly preferred. Additionally, you possess robust administrative skills, ensuring accuracy and organization in handling international chartering transactions and utilizing IT applications.
