In this position, you will act as the commercial link between our traders and rail service providers. You will source transportation capacity, negotiate freight rates, evaluate transport opportunities, and provide commercial advice that directly supports business decisions. Your ability to combine market knowledge, analytical thinking, and strong stakeholder management will help ensure we remain competitive in a dynamic European rail freight market.

Your Impact

Commercial Rail Procurement & Negotiation

• Source and secure rail freight capacity with railway undertakings and logistics partners across Europe.
• Negotiate competitive freight rates and commercial agreements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with rail operators and transportation providers.
• Monitor market developments and identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency and costs.

Pricing & Commercial Support

• Request, compare, and evaluate quotations for rail transportation services.
• Calculate freight costs and provide accurate pricing to traders.
• Develop route calculations and commercial proposals for new and existing business opportunities.
• Advise the business on the most competitive and efficient rail transport solutions.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for traders regarding rail freight capacity and transportation costs.
• Work closely with Commercial, Logistics, and Execution teams to align transportation solutions with business needs.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across Europe.

Analysis & Continuous Improvement

• Support forecasting activities related to rail capacity and wagon utilization.
• Contribute to quarterly reporting and commercial performance analysis.
• Analyze transportation data and identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.
• Support projects aimed at enhancing efficiency and service levels throughout the rail network.

What You'll Bring

• Experience within rail freight, logistics, transportation, forwarding, supply chain, or a related commercial environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent analytical and numerical abilities.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with data.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• A proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, international business environment.
