A Day in the Life:

The Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in executing the facility operations strategy. This includes managing the scheduling and contracting of trucking for package loads, inbound supplies, bulk oils, and ingredients. They are responsible for overseeing inventory and freight movement into and out of outside warehousing facilities. The position also involves coordinating with supply chain and bulk transportation for all inbound and outbound bulk shipments, scheduling packaging trailers, managing drop trailers in the yard, and ensuring timely delivery of customer orders through effective contract truck management.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage all aspects of logistics coordination, including scheduling and contracting trucking for package loads, inbound supplies, bulk oils, and ingredients to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
  • Oversee 3PL warehouse operations and inventory control, acting as the primary contact for Bunge and external partners, and coordinating closely with production to prevent shortages.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with carriers and optimize freight operations, negotiating rates, managing contracts, and coordinating all inbound and outbound truck and rail shipments to achieve cost efficiencies and service levels.
  • Uphold a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Streamline shipping processes, including developing daily shipping plans, processing all necessary inbound and outbound documentation, and arranging customer will-call services.
  • Proactively resolve transportation and customer-related issues, handling complaints, managing disputes, processing claims for lost or damaged goods, and addressing after-hours concerns as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Completion of a post-secondary education in logistics discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Three to five years experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain or related field required with Food and/or related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience processing transportation claims, dealing with customer issues, and negotiating traffic rates within preset cost limits.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PP) SAP, and other technical software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn, prioritize, and multitask in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on teams with other managers both internal and external to the facility.
  • Knowledge of truck loading, dunnage, strapping, bracing to prevent transportation damage.
  • General familiarity with the statutes and regulations governing motor carrier transportation.
  • Knowledge of transportation loss and claim procedures and regulations.
  • Candidate must be friendly, collaborative, intelligent and hard-working.
