A Day in the Life: 

As a Temporary Relief Operator/Labourer, you will support critical plant operations by safely and efficiently operating production and utility systems. This role provides essential coverage across departments and shifts, helping ensure safe operations, product quality, regulatory compliance, and cost‑effective production. Your flexibility and technical aptitude will directly support uninterrupted plant performance and food safety standards.

 

Position Details: 

This is a temporary relief Operator/Labourer position. Candidates must be available to work both roles, with pay applied based on the position worked. Availability to work all listed shifts, including rotating schedules, is required

  • Labourer Role
    • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (day shift)
      Pay Rate: $24.94/hour
  • Relief Operator Role
    • Schedule: 12‑hour rotating day and night shifts on a 4‑day rotation
      Pay Rate: $30.82/hour

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Operate Preparation, Solvent Extraction, Degumming, Boiler, Water, and Effluent Treatment systems safely and efficiently
  • Follow proper start‑up, shut‑down, fire suppression, and emergency response procedures
  • Perform equipment inspections, maintain housekeeping standards, and ensure plant rule compliance
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret samples to ensure adherence to product quality standards and specifications
  • Monitor computer data, instruments, and visual indicators to make effective process adjustments
  • Perform preventive maintenance and assist maintenance teams as required
  • Communicate process interruptions and mechanical issues with team members, relieving shifts, and supervisors
  • Perform additional duties and learn other plant roles as needed to support safe and efficient operations

 

Skills/Experience Requirements: 

  • Completion of Grade 12 or GED
  • 4th Class Power Engineering Certification is an asset
  • Experience in an oilseed processing plant is preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong problem‑solving skillsAbility to communicate clearly and work effectively within a team
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
  • Demonstrated commitment to food safety, quality, and continuous improvement
