This role will be responsible for helping to build a portfolio of raw material suppliers for biofuel production, focusing on new seeds and first- and second-generation waste products. In the long term, the team will also need to source new and innovative raw materials for an expanding range of low-carbon fuel production processes. Your specific focus will be on making short-term acquisitions and structuring long-term partnerships with a variety of feedstock providers to meet Repsol's growing feedstock needs.
Main Accountabilities:
- Build a feedstocks business.
- Explore and develop long-term structural opportunities for the supply of raw materials in coordination with Repsol's traders and other teams in the Strategy and Business Development Department, with special attention to sustainable raw materials with low carbon emissions for supply to pretreatment assets and/or HVO/SAF.
- Support the development of optimized internal and/or third-party opportunities, working closely with technology teams to optimize the entire asset design/raw material supply interface.
- Develop supply logistics chains for the supply of raw materials.
- Take early positions (co-processing, tolling, agreements with third parties) to be able to build a raw materials business. Work closely with other areas to understand the details of regulations, the impact on supply and demand balances, and develop strategies for optimal supply.
- Work with the trading desks to optimize the portfolio of internal and/or third-party feedstocks to generate the maximum margin throughout the entire value chain.
- Lead the analysis and evaluation of development opportunities, facilitating proper coordination with all areas involved in order to identify, analyze, propose, and evaluate development opportunities.
- Maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders/clients to achieve more business opportunities and international growth. Support in ideation, acquisition, prospecting, and loyalty.
- Prepare value propositions to develop an optimal positioning for Repsol in the lipid waste and/or intermediate products market, including analysis of technological routes, integration options between them and with existing Repsol and/or third-party sites with which synergies are identified, alternatives for flow optimization, possible collaborations with Repsol Techlab, participation in inorganic and/or integration growth projects, and development of other activities in the value chain of waste and/or intermediate products, and analysis of the asset network necessary for business operation.
- Technical and economic analysis of available supply options. Search for and propose alternatives and identify actions aimed at facilitating access, consolidation, availability, and development of the Feedstocks and/or intermediate products market, ensuring access to generated volumes, current and potential, at competitive prices and with guaranteed sustainability and supply.
- Maintain and offer a low-carbon fuel strategy, consistent with the value of the raw material, guaranteeing alignment between multiple business lines within Repsol.
- Maintain a solid compliance culture and adhere to Repsol's commercial principles.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's or undergraduate degree in Engineering or Experimental Sciences.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in HVO feedstocks (used cooking oil, animal fats, vegetable oils, advanced raw materials).
- Experience in structuring purchase contracts and managing risks/exposures is essential.
- Experience in supply chain development and/or optimization is desirable.
- Candidates will have a solid understanding of the low-carbon fuel value chain. This must include a basic understanding of technical, commercial, and economic considerations.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
- Strong market knowledge and ability to develop new business opportunities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills in multicultural environments, facilitating communication flows.
- It is essential that you can demonstrate that you are a resilient entrepreneur and can contribute effectively to teamwork and, when necessary, lead the team without formal authority.
- Languages: Spanish and English. Other languages valued: Chinese, French, German, etc.
