Role Purpose Statement:

The Indirect Tax Specialist is responsible for correctly and timely full filling the VAT compliance obligations within the regional finance organization of the BBS in Barcelona. You will support on the indirect tax technology strategy with focus on automation and continuous improvement of the VAT processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with Bunge’s policies and procedures.

Main Accountabilities:

The Indirect Tax Specialist will be an integral part of the BBS but will work on day-to-day tasks independently. Thus, experience is required.

The Indirect Tax Specialist will be responsible for the preparation and timely and correctly submitting the declarations and vat returns for all EU VAT registrations entities. Due to changes to the evolving VAT compliance requirements and regulations and changes to the business structure and design the current responsibilities of the VAT accountant can expand and alter in the future.

Specific responsibilities of the role will be:

• Pro-actively follow up and resolve issues found in the reconciliation and VAT compliance process.
• Makes sure VAT, Intrastat and ESL are reported correctly and timely for the assigned VAT registrations.
• E -filing of the declarations in the secured internet environment.
• Work closely with cash team to ensure payments are made accurately and on time.
• Perform VAT reconciliations and follow up with Accounts Payable team and Execution teams to ensure correct VAT treatment of transactions.
• Provide training to internal departments to expand their VAT knowledge ensuring the VAT compliance status of the company.
• Advise on ad hoc VAT issues.
• Support the Indirect Tax Team with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Support the local Tax managers in handling the external VAT Audits and queries.
• Participate in (technological) projects to improve VAT compliance process. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• - 3+ years of experience as an Indirect Tax Specialist.
• - 3+ years of professional practice in multinational companies.
•  Fluent in Spanish and English will be required. German will be a plus.
•  The Indirect Tax Specialist must have significant experience in accounting and knowledge on European VAT rules and regulations.
•  Numerical and analytical skills are required together with system knowledge (SAP, SAP S/4 HANA).
