Main Accountabilities

  • Lead the trading, risk management, and optimization of Thai raw and white sugar (and related ethanol flows) into Far East markets, ensuring positions are appropriately hedged and aligned with market outlooks.
  • Develop and execute origination strategies for Thai sugar, building long-term partnerships with key millers and identifying additional sourcing opportunities.
  • Drive sales and marketing activities across Asia, maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and providing market insights and pricing guidance.
  • Actively identify and capitalize on trading, optionality, and arbitrage opportunities across origins, destinations, and intra-regional flows to enhance profitability.
  • Manage shipment allocations and physical positioning, coordinating closely with origin offices and execution teams to optimize logistics, quality allocation, and cost efficiency.
  • Own the commercial performance of the trading book, managing P&L delivery, identifying value-creating opportunities, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting in coordination with regional and global teams.
  • Monitor regional supply and demand dynamics, providing market intelligence to research and commercial stakeholders and incorporating changes into trading and origination strategies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to traders and cross-functional teams, collaborating with internal stakeholders across trading, execution, risk, finance, and compliance.

 

 

Education/Experience Requirements: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing/ Trading/ Finance or related fields
  2. Minimum 9-10 years of relevant experience as a Senior Trader in agricultural commodities in Asia. Experience in Sugar trading is preferred.
  3. Able to build trust and rapport with internal and external customers
  4. Proven track record
  5. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills and an ability to develop strong relationship
  6. Cultural sensitivity and ability to manage across cultures
  7. Excellent communication and leadership skills
  8. Ability to communicate in local Asian language will be a plus
  9. Ablility to travel
