Statutory Accounting Controller - Sofia office

 

The core focus of this role is to coordinate local GAAP accounting processes to ensure accurate, compliant, consistent, and timely financial reporting. Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities while collaborating closely with Controlling and BBS (Bunge Business Center) teams to improve data quality and process alignment. 

 

This should be completed through the following activities:

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of statutory accounts and other relevant financial reporting requirements;
• Periodic review of accounting records and proposal of adjustments, when the case, in line with local GAAP;
• Calculates and send tickets to BBS team for different journal entries (provisions, insurance accruals etc.);
• Provide professional expertise to BBS teams to successfully implement the changes in the local legislation, ensuring compliance with specific domestic/EU regulations;
• Centralize and revise the accounting documentation required for Transfer Price file; provides assistance for TP preparation (sends required level of details and supporting documents to TAX team to ensure a good understanding of ICO transactions);
• Provides support during internal, external audits. Checks the transactions in SAP, and provides to external auditors the required level of details along with the support documentation;
• Creates in MDG the requests for new GL accounts, new cost centers. Approves creation of materials in MDG
• Prepares the draft of Local GAAP Financial Statements, for the assigned legal entity ensuring accuracy and compliance;
• Assist with the review and submission of monthly tax declaration;
• Prepares reports in relation to various Local Authorities (i.e. Customs, NBR etc.) on specific accounting/economic requests.
• Support Tax & other departments in all matters. Own ad hoc financial reporting demands for the country;
• Ensure the presence and functioning of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX)/ Perform SOX controls as defined by KC matrix;
• Oversee the annual audit cycle and SOX management testing with the SOX team, monitor remediation of financial reporting issues, control deficiencies and Management Action Plans;

 

What you can bring to the role: 

 

• Min 5 years in progressive Accounting roles / Finance with an agricultural commodity experience- an advantage;
• Strong technical expertise and experience working in controlling, local GAAP financial accounting & reporting roles;
• Degree in Accounting / Finance / Economics. Qualified accountant or equivalent (ACCA, CPA, etc.) is a plus;
• Good knowledge of local GAAP accounting; SOX, US GAAP is a plus;
• Good command of English language (minimum intermediate level);
• Strong Excel skills; SAP - nice to have;
• Excellent communication and the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization;
