Join Bunge, a leading global agribusiness and food company, as a Grains and Oilseeds Trader – West Africa based in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. You will be at the heart of coordinating trading activities between our global trading teams and customers across West Africa, while helping to develop and grow our grains and oilseeds business in the region. 

 

The role: 


In this position, you will manage the trading and marketing of grains and oilseeds across West Africa, with a primary base in Ivory Coast. You will focus on building and managing relationships with millers, feed producers, and distributors, while ensuring efficient execution and profitability of trades from origin to final destination. 

The role requires a solid understanding of regional trade flows, including multi-destination vessel logistics across West Africa. 

You will work closely with global trading desks as well as internal teams including Execution, Freight, Finance, and Contract Administration to ensure smooth and compliant operations across a complex, multi-country environment. 

 

What your manager Ilias wants you to know about this position: 

 

You will report directly to me as Senior Manager North & West Africa, based in Geneva. In this role, you will play a key part in building and developing Bunge’s grains and oilseeds business across West Africa. 

This is a relationship-driven market, shaped by long-established local and regional players who have been active for decades. To be successful, you will need to navigate this environment confidently, leverage your network, and build strong, trusted partnerships with customers. 

I’m looking for someone who can operate with a high level of autonomy, who understands the region well, and who brings an international mindset—someone who can connect local market realities with global trading dynamics and the standards of a multinational environment. 

 

Further accountabilities & success measures: 

 

  • Drive trading activities across West Africa, delivering growth in volumes, margins, and P&L performance 

  • Build and expand a strong customer portfolio and originate new business 

  • Own and manage trading P&L with accurate reporting and performance tracking 

  • Provide market intelligence to support pricing and regional strategy 

  • Ensure efficient and compliant execution of contracts end-to-end 

  • Apply pricing and risk management tools (e.g. CBOT, hedging) 

  • Support logistics planning and trade flows across the region 

  • Operate within company risk and compliance frameworks 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commodity trading, sales, or business development; candidates with more years of relevant experience are particularly encouraged to apply. 

  • Experience in grains and oilseeds is highly preferred 

  • Experience in West African agricultural commodity markets and familiarity with regional customers is a must 

  • Ability to operate in a multi-country, fast-moving environment 

  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of profitability drivers 

  • Fluency in English and French is mandatory
