Overview:
The person in this role demonstrates a high level of professionalism, prioritizing the integrity, availability, and performance of Bunge's Business Intelligence platforms within the Business Technology function, specifically in the Data & Analytics function. Responsibilities include ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and optimization of BI systems, actively seeking opportunities to enhance existing processes and contribute to strategic initiatives by leveraging extensive technical knowledge. This role requires an individual contributor who can operate with limited supervision, apply deep technical expertise, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that align with Bunge’s business strategy and financial goals.
Essential Functions:
Main Accountabilities
- Take direct responsibility for executing and maintaining core activities related to Business Intelligence system administration, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Lead small to medium-sized projects of moderate complexity, guiding technical tasks and coordinating efforts to achieve important results for the Business Intelligence department.
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements within BI system operations, contributing to enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence platforms and foundational understanding of related IT disciplines to adapt departmental plans and recommend best practices.
- Analyze and resolve a variety of technical challenges, ranging from routine to moderately complex, sometimes requiring innovative solutions where no clear precedent exists.
- Ensure alignment with specific functional policies and broad procedural guidelines, while retaining the autonomy to choose appropriate tactics to meet established goals for BI systems.
- Develop innovative solutions to improve BI results or eliminate operational problems by applying a thorough understanding of Bunge's business context, structure, and strategy.
- Drive continuous improvement through high standards, focused priorities, and a commitment to preparing systems and users for technological changes.
Impact/Dimensions:
- Contributes significantly to process improvements within the Business Intelligence department, directly impacting the efficiency and reliability of data access and reporting across the organization.
- The effective maintenance and optimization of multiple BI systems by this role have a direct influence on the ability of various departments to make data-driven decisions, supporting strategic objectives on a domestic or international scale.
- Adapts and recommends solutions and best practices within the Business Intelligence department, leveraging comprehensive expertise to enhance the organization's analytical capabilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- System uptime and availability of Business Intelligence platforms.
- Resolution time for reported BI system issues.
- Successful completion rate of assigned BI projects and initiatives.
- Effectiveness of implemented process improvements in BI administration.
- Compliance with security and data governance policies for BI systems.
Major Opportunities and Decisions:
- Analyzing complex system performance issues and developing effective, long-term solutions, particularly for problems without straightforward precedents.
- Evaluating new BI tools or features and recommending their adoption to enhance existing capabilities or address emerging business needs.
- Deciding on the optimal configuration and maintenance strategies for critical BI infrastructure to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Supporting the delivery of solutions for highly complex data integration or reporting challenges, requiring deep technical insight and strategic thinking.
Management/Leadership:
- Manages and oversees Business Intelligence projects and processes, working independently with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Provides informal technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues or support staff, sharing best practices and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Operates within specific functional policies and broad procedural frameworks, exercising discretion to select the most effective tactics to achieve established goals for BI system administration.
Key Relationships, Stakeholders & Interfaces (External & Internal):
Works closely with IT infrastructure teams, data architects, data engineers, business analysts, and end-users across various business functions. Collaborates with external vendors for BI software and service providers.
Knowledge and Technical Competencies:
- Expertise in administering major Business Intelligence platforms (e.g., SAP BusinessObjects, Microsoft Power BI, Salesforce Tableau, Google Looker, Qlik Sense, etc.).
- Strong understanding of database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake) and data warehousing concepts.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and system management.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Salesforce) and their BI services.
- Familiarity with data governance, security principles, and access management in a BI context.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex technical issues.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience:
- Typically a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible and relevant functional experience in Business Intelligence system administration or a closely related technical domain, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
