Are you an ambitious Customs professional with a good understanding of Dutch customs law, eager to apply your skills in a dynamic, expanding industrial environment? Perhaps you're looking to transition from a port or airport setting, like Schiphol, to a role where your expertise will directly influence global supply chains and strategic compliance. Bunge invites you to make a significant impact as we grow our operations, including a new factory in Westzaan that will quadruple our transaction volumes.
At Bunge, we are a global leader in sourcing, processing, and supplying essential oilseeds and grains. This isn't just a job involving declarations; it’s an opportunity to shape our future, navigate complex industrial challenges, and ensure strategic compliance on a worldwide scale.
The Role & Your Impact:
As our Customs Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring accurate and compliant handling of all import and export activities for our Dutch entities. Your primary focus will extend beyond routine processing to proactively identifying and mitigating compliance risks, maintaining meticulous documentation, and staying ahead of evolving regulations like EUDR and CBAM. You will provide crucial operational guidance, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, external customs brokers, and authorities to resolve any customs-related issues efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading accurate and timely customs clearance, ensuring audit readiness and proper documentation for a rapidly growing volume of transactions.
- Taking full ownership of the excise duty administration for one of our key biodiesel factories, collaborating closely with our Rotterdam team.
- Mastering and managing the preparation, maintenance, and submission of Inward Processing (IP) administration.
- Monitoring and optimizing customs duties, taxes, and tariffs, while actively contributing to our continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the implementation and testing of customs automation solutions, process/data flow analysis and digital transformation support.
Who We're Looking For:
We seek a highly skilled, hands-on, and principled professional with a keen eye for detail and a drive for continuous improvement.
- Essential Qualification: A professional qualification as a Customs Declarant or in Customs and Trade Affairs is required.
- Experience: Ideally, you have proven hands-on experience in customs operations, import/export compliance, bonded warehouse management, and inward processing, ideally within a complex industrial or large-scale trade environment. However, don't let a lack of experience deter you from applying. We are committed to your growth and provide comprehensive training to support your development, welcoming your application as long as you meet our core requirements: a Customs educational background and knowledge of Dutch customs laws and regulations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel), experience with SAP, and practical familiarity with various Customs declaration systems.
- Attributes: You are an analytical thinker, an excellent communicator, and a true team player who thrives on collaboration, both internally and with external partners. You approach every task with ownership and precision, eager to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
