We are looking for a highly strategically focused Senior Finance Business Partner to play a pivotal role in driving performance for our Tropical Oils business unit in EMEA. This position oversees financial planning, analysis, strategic and operational finance activities across all locations of the business unit in Europe and Africa acting as a key business partner and part of the regional leadership team. This role requires a strong understanding of the agri-food industry, including trading and risk management, as well as exceptional leadership and communication skills. The successful candidate will lead a team of about 10 professionals across different geographies, supported by additional dedicated positions in global shared services for financial planning and analysis.


The location of this role is Zaandam, Amsterdam office (The Netherlands). The impact of the role’s scope includes Rotterdam, Wormerveer and Westzaan in the Netherlands, Neuss in Germany, Tema in Ghana, with consolidated sales revenue of more than US$ 1 billion+. 

 

Main Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Planning & Analysis: 
o    Lead the development of long-term strategic financial plans for the EMEA geographic division of the Tropical Oils business unit;
o    Conduct monthly performance reporting and analysis, identifying key commercial insights and trends to facilitate data-driven decisions;
o    Oversee the annual budgeting process; 
o    Manage rolling forecasts, proactively identify potential risks and opportunities impacting business targets, and develop mitigation strategies.


Business Monitoring and Reporting: 
o    Continuously track financial and operational performance against targets, identifying gaps and areas for improvement.
o    Provide insightful financial analysis to drive strategic decision-making and optimise profitability.
o    Support the journey of the upcoming new Westzaan production plant into Refinery production reporting in SAP and its optimization for recent and future investments. 


Commercial Business Partnering & Risk Management: 
o    Act as a key financial advisor to senior leadership, providing data-driven insights and business recommendations.
o    Analyse root-causes of business/operational performance and provide recommendations to improve results.
o    Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities by analyzing trends, market conditions, and internal data. 
o    Collaborate with the Trading & Sourcing and Commercial teams on real-time data for pricing decisions and oversee long-term contracts and risks;
o    Work closely to whole Finance team to ensure effective knowledge sharing and to anticipate key activities and forecasts.

 

 Strategic Growth: 
o    Assist the business with decision support on key capital investment projects;
o    Execution and governance of ongoing growth investments (Westzaan), accurate forecasting and tracking of actual spend, prepare updates to business case, identify potential gaps and make recommendations to address risks;
o    Develop capital budgets, funding requirements, and project metrics for capital investment.

 

Qualifications you bring to the role: 
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or economics. Masters or MBA preferred. Professionally qualifications in accounting ACCA (or comparable qualifications) is an advantage;
• 15+ years of experience in finance roles, of which 5 years in a senior / middle-management role, preferably in agribusiness or B2B food industry;
• Extensive experience in financial leadership, including trade accounting (daily P&L, mark-to-market calculations), controlling, tax and treasury operations. Full understanding of financial books and US GAAP principles;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable insights. 
• Proficiency in English is required.
