A Day in the Life:

The IT Application Analyst is responsible for delivery of application code and associated documentation to support and enhance information technology applications.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Creates and documents detailed designs for simple software applications or components applying agreed modelling techniques, standards, patterns and tools. Contributes to the design of components of larger software systems.
  • Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors simple to moderately complex programs/scripts for new and existing applications. Applies agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
  • Collaborates in review of work with others as appropriate.
  • Identifies and communicates technical problems, processes and resolves issues with applications, following agreed procedures. Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics.
  • Performs agreed applications maintenance tasks for existing applications.
  • Designs test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting outcomes. Analyses and reports test activities and results. Identifies and reports issues and risks associated with own work.
  • Produces software builds from software source code. Conducts tests as defined in integration test specification and documents results.
  • Develops, documents and implements changes based on requests for change. Applies change control procedures.
  • Maintains programming guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Supports end users who have questions, problems, enhancements and ad-hoc training requests.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Skills & Experience Requirements:

  • One (1) year related business or systems experience.
  • Post secondary degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information systems as well as application programming, database and system design.  
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (i.e. oral, written and listening). 
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry and specific domain knowledge (HR, Finance and/or Grains Marketing and Operations) and experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PL/SQL, C# .NET and Java.
